Chapter 6 - The Broken Alliance

The silence that followed the database purge was thick, broken only by the ragged breathing of The Architect beneath Dante’s boot. Emma leaned against the metal console, her chest heaving as the realization of what they had just escaped washed over her. The data was gone. The girls were safe.

But as she looked at the leather-bound book in her hands, she realized the nightmare wasn't entirely over.

"This isn't just an index," Emma said, turning the yellowed pages. "Dante, look at this. The names in here... they aren't just the historical victims of the institute. These are the current financial contributors to the Obsidian Cartel. The politicians, the bankers, the judges who funded the network for thirty years."

The Architect let out a bloody laugh from the floor. "You think you’ve won because you saved a few broken women, Director? That book is a death sentence. The people listed in those pages know I had it. They know I was using it as leverage. If they find out it’s in your hands, they won't just send a data broker. They’ll send an army."

"Let them come," Dante snarled, pressing his boot harder into the man’s ribs until a sickening pop echoed through the room. "We’ve handled armies before."

"No," Emma said, her voice sharp with a sudden authority that made Dante look up. "We don't fight them in the shadows anymore, Dante. That's what they want. They want us to stay in the dark where they can control the narrative. We’re going to use their own system against them."

She turned back to the console, plugging her personal biometric drive into the one remaining functional server port. "I’m uploading this entire ledger directly to the federal prosecution offices in Frankfurt, Paris, and Washington. By morning, every name in this book will be on an international red notice."

The Architect's eyes went wide behind his glasses. "You're insane! You’ll destroy the entire European financial market! Do you know how many banks rely on that offshore capital?"

"I don't care about the banks," Emma said coldly, hitting the 'send' key with an unyielding finality. "I care about the truth."

Before the upload could reach one hundred percent, the facility’s main alarm began to wail—a shrill, rhythmic screech that turned the concrete vault into a cavern of red strobe lights.

"External breach," the automated system announced in German. "Explosive decompression detected in Sector One."

Dante pulled The Architect up by his collar, dragging him toward the rear exit tunnel. "The cartel’s cleanup crew is here," he told Emma, his pistol already raised toward the corridor. "They’re not here to negotiate with The Architect anymore. They're here to erase the evidence. Move!"
