Chapter 9 - The Reunion

The drive back to the logging cabin felt like a dream. Rose sat in the passenger seat of Grizz's truck, wrapped in a warm blanket, her hand locked in Jax's as he rode his chopper alongside her, never letting her out of his sight.

When they finally pulled up to the cabin, the sun was just beginning to rise over the pine trees, casting a beautiful golden light across the morning dew.

The cabin door opened, and Doc stepped out, followed by a hesitant Lily.

Rose didn't wait for the truck to fully stop. She threw the door open and sprinted across the gravel. "Lily!"

"Mommy!" Lily shrieked, dropping the silver wolf charm as she flew into her mother's open arms.

They crashed into the grass together, holding each other so tightly it looked as though they would never detach. Jax parked his bike, walking over slowly, his heart fuller than it had ever been in his entire life.

Lily looked up from her mother’s shoulder, her eyes shining as she pointed at Jax. "See, Mommy? I told you! I found the wolf!"

Rose stood up, holding Lily tightly against her hip, and looked at Jax. The shadows of the past eight years—the running, the hiding, the terror—seemed to melt away in the warm morning sun.

"Thank you, Jax," Rose said, her voice filled with a profound devotion.

Jax walked up to them, wrapping his massive arms around both of them, pulling them into a protective embrace. "Welcome home," he whispered.
