Chapter 5 - Gathering the Pack

"If they have Rose, they have her at the old Vance estate near the coast," Hawk added, spreading a map across the wooden table. "It's a fortress. Armed guards, high-tech security, isolated by miles of private marshland."
Jax looked at the map, his mind racing. "We can't go in blind. And we can't take the whole club; it'll draw too much attention from the feds. We need a strike team."
"Count us in," Grizz said without hesitation. "Rose was family. She’s still family."
Before they could formulate a plan, Lily walked over to the table, pointing her small finger at a specific spot on the map, a few miles north of the main estate. "There’s a boat house here. That's where they brought us first. It smells like old fish and gasoline. There's a secret tunnel under the floorboards."
Jax looked at her in amazement. "You're a smart girl, Lily. Just like your mom."
"I paid attention," Lily said proudly, though fear still lingered in her eyes. "Mom told me to always look for an exit."
Jax turned to Doc, who had just arrived after securing their perimeter. "Doc, you stay here with Lily. Guard her with your life. If anyone comes through that door who isn't us, you know what to do."
Doc nodded, patting the heavy holster at his hip. "She’ll be safe, brother. Go bring our girl home."
Jax walked over to Lily, kneeling down to her eye level once more. He unclipped a small, silver wolf-head charm from his keychain and pressed it into her palm. "Hold onto this for me. It’s my lucky charm. Keep it safe until I get back."

Lily clutched the charm tightly to her chest. "Bring Mommy back, Jax."
"I will," he said, his face hardening into iron as he stood up and put on his helmet. "Pack up, boys. We hunt tonight."
