Chapter 8 - The Masterstroke

The following week was a whirlwind of legal victories and dramatic reckonings.
Empowered by the sworn confessions and the public humiliation at the gala, Alexander’s legal team launched a total financial counter-offensive against Lord Charles Sterling and his accomplices.
Within forty-eight hours:
The High Court permanently dismissed Charles’s custody petition with prejudice, issuing a formal judicial reprimand against him for filing a fraudulent claim.
Alexander purchased Charles’s outstanding personal loans from the major London banks, becoming his sole creditor. Alexander immediately called the loans due, forcing Charles into total personal bankruptcy and forcing him to surrender his country estate to pay off his debts.
Lady Eleanor and Julian were formally severed from the Whitmore Family Trust. Julian was forced to take an entry-level position at an overseas shipping firm in Singapore to pay off his personal gambling debts, while Eleanor was relocated to a quiet cottage in Wales with a modest, unnegotiable stipend, permanently banished from London high society.
With the parasites removed, Alexander turned his full attention to the future.
One bright morning, six months after the gala, the garden of the Kensington mansion was transformed into an enchanted sanctuary filled with white roses, lavender, and soft satin drapes.
The sun shone brightly over London, painting the manicured lawn in brilliant shades of green and gold. Classical music floated through the air as fifty of Alexander and Grace’s closest friends, loyal staff, and medical team gathered for a private wedding ceremony.
Inside the mansion’s dressing room, Grace stood before the full-length mirror wearing a stunning, custom-designed lace wedding gown. Her dark hair was styled with a delicate diamond tiara, and her face glowed with radiant happiness.
A soft tap sounded at the door. The door swung open, and little Iris stepped into the room.
Not in a walker.
Not holding onto a nurse’s hand.
Iris walked across the thick velvet carpet on her own two feet, wearing a tiny pink flower-girl dress, holding a small basket of rose petals in her hands. Behind her, her twin sister Clara came running, clapping her hands happily.
Grace gasped, dropping to her knees on the floor—just as she had done on that fateful day in the nursery months ago.
“Look, Mommy Grace!” Iris chirped proudly, her sweet little voice clear and bright. “I walking! I walking to you!”

Tears of absolute joy spilled over Grace’s eyelashes as she caught Iris in her arms, kissing her cheeks, while Clara piled on top of them in a warm, chaotic family hug.
“You are amazing, my sweet girl,” Grace whispered, holding both daughters tight against her heart. “You are the strongest girl in the world.”
