Chapter 5 - Desperate Measures

When Daniel discovered what his mother had done, he lost all control.
I was at the helipad, helping the children board our aircraft, when Daniel came running across the snow, his eyes manic and wild.
"You set me up!" Daniel screamed at me over the roaring chop of the helicopter blades. "You planned this! You came here to ruin my engagement, turn my mother against me, and steal my inheritance!"
"I came here because you summoned me, Daniel," I shouted back, standing tall against the freezing wind. "You wanted to mock me. You wanted to display me as a failure in front of your new bride. You threw the stone—I simply let it bounce back at you."
"I'm suing for full custody!" he raged, grabbing my arm. "They carry my DNA! I will take those children away from you, Kesha! I have lawyers!"
Before he could pull me, my personal security detail stepped out from the helicopter cabin. A six-foot-four former Secret Service agent smoothly grabbed Daniel's wrist, twisting it back and forcing him to his knees in the deep snow.
"Touch Ms. Vance again, Mr. Reynolds, and you will be facing federal assault charges before noon," the guard warned coldly.

I looked down at Daniel lying in the snow, breathless and humiliated.
"My legal team consists of the top three family law firms in the country, Daniel," I said calmly. "Try it. I will dismantle what little remains of your reputation."
