Chapter 7 - The Bloodline of Heart

Six months later.
Spring had arrived in Westchester. The gardens of the Caruso Estate were blooming with vibrant red roses, white lilies, and lush green grass stretching out toward the pine forests.
The heavy security guards were still present, but the oppressive, terrifying atmosphere that had once hung over the estate had vanished, replaced by warmth, laughter, and light.
On the manicured lawn, seven-year-old Leo and twenty-year-old Toby were playing a energetic game of soccer. Toby, now fully healthy, his diabetes managed by top specialists, was laughing as Leo successfully dribbled the ball past his legs and scored a goal into the small wooden net.
"I scored! Sarah, look! I scored!" Leo cheered, running toward the terrace with his arms raised high.
Sarah sat on a plush outdoor sofa on the sunlit terrace, wearing a comfortable white linen dress. Her hair was pulled back into a soft ponytail, her skin glowing with radiant health. The scars on her back remained, but they no longer hurt—they were merely medals of a war she had won.
She caught Leo as he jumped onto the sofa, hugging him tightly and laughing as he buried his face in her neck.
"I saw it, hero!" Sarah smiled, kissing his cheek. "You're getting faster than Optimus Prime!"
From the French doors of the mansion, Enzo walked out onto the terrace.
He had discarded his formal suits, wearing a simple black polo shirt and dark jeans. He looked younger, relaxed, the cold, murderous edge that had defined his face for a decade softened by an overwhelming, profound peace.
He walked over to the sofa, sitting down beside Sarah, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. Leo squeezed between them, hugging both of their waists.
"How was the meeting with the city board?" Sarah asked softly, resting her head against Enzo’s chest.
"The Caruso Foundation was officially approved," Enzo smiled, his deep voice vibrating warmly against her cheek. "Ten million dollars has been allocated to build three new pediatric emergency wings across New York City—all named after Sarah Miller."
Sarah looked up at him, her hazel eyes shining with unbidden tears of happiness. "Enzo... that’s amazing."
"It's the least I can do for the woman who saved my soul," Enzo murmured, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss against her lips.
Leo made a loud, exaggerated gagging noise. "Eww! Yuck!"

Sarah and Enzo both burst out laughing, the warm, joyful sound echoing across the sunlit estate, reaching Toby on the lawn, who raised his hands in a happy salute.
Enzo pulled Sarah tighter against his side, his large hand gently resting over her abdomen—where a new, tiny life had just begun to grow, a baby girl due in seven months, a child who would be born into a family bound not by fear or bloodlines of crime, but by the unbreakable steel of a mother’s unconditional love.
