Chapter 9 - The Moretti Vows

The wedding was held at Adriano’s estate, but the high security was replaced by an atmosphere of pure celebration. The gardens were filled with thousands of white roses, their scent drifting on the warm summer breeze.
Only a select few were invited—close friends, trusted allies, and the people who had stood by them during the dark years of the shadow war.
Clara stood before the mirror in the bridal suite, adjusting her veil. Her dress was a masterpiece of white lace, elegant and timeless.
A knock came at the door, and Leo walked in, holding a small velvet box containing the rings. "You look like a real princess, Mom."
Clara knelt down, tears pricking her eyes as she adjusted his bowtie. "Thank you, my love. Are you ready?"
"Yeah. Adriano told me that today, I don't just get a stepdad. He said he’s officially adopting me. I’m going to be Leo Moretti." The boy’s face beamed with a pride that warmed Clara to her very core.
"He loves you so much, Leo. Never forget that."
When Clara walked down the aisle, the string quartet played a soft, beautiful melody. Adriano stood at the altar, looking incredibly handsome. As he watched her approach, the feared Mafia Don, the man who had faced down empires without flinching, had a visible tear slipping down his cheek.
They exchanged vows not of duty or obligation, but of survival, triumph, and an eternal, fierce love.
"I promised to protect you from the storm," Adriano said, his voice rich with emotion as he slipped a flawless diamond ring onto her finger. "But you ended up being the light that guided me out of the darkness. I am yours, Clara, for the rest of my days."
"You saved my life, Adriano," Clara replied, her voice trembling with joy. "But more than that, you gave me a life worth living. I love you."

The priest smiled. "I now pronounce you husband and wife."
As Adriano pulled her into a passionate, breathtaking kiss, the guests erupted into cheers, and Leo threw a handful of white rose petals into the air, his laughter ringing out above the applause.
