Chapter 6 - The Healing Tide

Two months later, the Cape Cod estate was no longer a grim, hidden safe house.

The windows were thrown wide open to let in the warm autumn breeze, and the sounds of cooing infants and gentle laughter filled the sunlit hallways. The estate had been officially renamed Liam’s House—a permanent sanctuary, funded by the recovered corporate assets, dedicated to providing medical and legal support to mothers who had been silenced or manipulated by powerful corporate entities.

In the master suite, Mara sat propped up in bed against soft linen pillows, cradling the baby girl while Grant paced gently across the room, rocking the baby boy against his shoulder.

“They’re finally sleeping at the same time,” Mara whispered, a soft, radiant smile gracing her lips. The pale, haunted look in her green eyes had been replaced by a vibrant, glowing warmth. “It’s a miracle.”

“It’s not a miracle, it’s exhaustion,” Grant laughed quietly, walking over to sit on the edge of the bed beside her. He leaned down, pressing a tender kiss to her lips—a kiss that carried no shadows, no secrets, and no fear.

Mara rested her head against his shoulder, her hand sliding into his. “The trial starts next month in Boston. Marcus says Celeste’s defense team is trying to plead insanity.”

“It won't work,” Grant said firmly, wrapping his arm around her. “The financial trail is too clean, the medical tampering is too well-documented, and Beatrice Thorne is testifying as a cooperating witness. Celeste is going away for a very long time.”

Mara looked up at him, her eyes searching his face. “Are you okay with that, Grant? Stripping your own sister of everything?”

Grant looked down at his sleeping son, then across the room at his daughter, before meeting Mara’s gaze with absolute certainty.

“Celeste stopped being my sister the day she murdered our firstborn,” Grant said softly. “My family is right here in this room. And I’m never letting anyone touch you again.”

Outside, the Atlantic waves crashed rhythmically against the shore, washing away the stains of the past, and welcoming a dawn built on truth, justice, and enduring love.
