Chapter 10 - A NEW BEGINNING

Six months later, the forty-room mansion was no longer a silent mausoleum. It echoed with the sounds of laughter, footsteps, and music.

The locked drawer in Daniel’s study was permanently open. The tiny silver bracelet was no longer hidden away; it sat beautifully in a glass display case in Lily's new bedroom, right next to her favorite stuffed rabbit, which now had its missing ear carefully sewn back on by Mrs. Higgins.

It was a bright spring morning. Lily was running through the vast gardens, chasing a golden retriever puppy Daniel had adopted for her. Her silver-gray eyes sparkled with pure joy, completely free of the fear and hunger that had haunted her six months ago.

Daniel watched her from the terrace, holding a cup of coffee. Sam Vance walked up beside him, handing him a legal portfolio.

"It's official, Daniel. The adoption and restoration of birth rights are finalized. Her legal name is now Lily Grace Whitmore. She is officially your daughter in the eyes of the world."

Daniel smiled, looking out at the girl playing in the sunshine. He had lost nine years of her life, but he had a lifetime ahead to love her. The nightmare was finally over, and a beautiful, true dawn had begun.
