Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon

One year later.

The ocean breeze blew gently across the private beach behind the Torino estate on Long Island.

A white wooden pavilion built over the sand was decorated with hundreds of white roses, lilies, and flowing silk drapes that fluttered in the warm sunshine.

Over two hundred guests—business leaders, community representatives, reformed city officials, and loved ones—sat in the white wooden chairs, watching the ceremony.

At the altar stood Vincent Torino. He looked magnificent in a dark tuxedo, his face illuminated by a warmth, a deep peace that no one in the underworld would have believed possible two years ago. Beside him stood Marco, wearing a tailored suit, looking proud and sharp as his best man.

The violin music began to play a sweet, triumphant melody.

Little Sophie walked down the petal-covered aisle first, wearing a beautiful white flower-girl dress, tossing yellow rose petals onto the sand with a huge, radiant smile.

And then came Elena.

She looked like an angel descending from the sky. Her white lace bridal gown draped flawlessly over her frame, extending into a long, breathtaking train that swept across the white sand. Her veil fluttered gently in the wind, and her hazel eyes were fixed entirely on the man waiting for her at the end of the aisle.

Thomas Miller—her father, who had been brought to New York six months ago to live near his granddaughter—walked her down the aisle, placing her hand gently into Vincent’s.

"Take care of my girl, Vincent," Thomas said with tears in his eyes.

"With my life, sir," Vincent promised firmly.

The priest stood before them, his voice echoing warmly over the sound of the gentle ocean waves.

"Vincent and Elena... today you join your lives, your hearts, and your families into an unbroken bond of love, trust, and protection. Do you, Vincent, take Elena to be your lawful wedded wife?"

Vincent looked down into Elena’s glowing eyes, his voice steady, powerful, and absolute.

"I do."

"And do you, Elena, take Vincent to be your lawful wedded husband?"

Elena smiled, her heart overflowing with love. "I do."

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"

Vincent pulled Elena into his arms, lifting her slightly off the sand, and kissed her passionately as the entire crowd erupted into thunderous, overwhelming applause.

Sophie ran up to the altar, throwing her small arms around both of their waists. Vincent leaned down, lifting his new daughter into his arm, holding his wife close to his side with the other.

They stood together on the edge of the sparkling blue ocean, surrounded by love, light, and laughter.

The dark shadows of the past were gone, replaced by an unbroken horizon of hope, peace, and an eternal love that had begun with a terrified whisper and ended in a beautiful, everlasting home.
