Chapter 9 - The New Dawn
Six months later.
The city of New York had undergone a massive quiet transformation.
Gabriel Vane was sentenced to twenty-five years in federal prison for extortion, grand larceny, and syndicate racketeering.
Victoria Sterling was convicted of felony conspiracy, theft of trade secrets, and attempted assault, receiving an eight-year sentence at a maximum-security state facility. Her father, former Senator Arthur Sterling, was currently serving a ten-year term for federal tax evasion and political corruption. The Sterling name was officially erased from high society.
On a warm, sunny afternoon in May, the grand lawn of the Rossi estate was transformed into a paradise of white orchids, blooming roses, and glowing crystal sculptures.
Two hundred guests sat in silver chiavari chairs—not underworld bosses or corrupt politicians, but community leaders, charity directors, hospital administrators, and the loyal staff members of the Rossi manor.
In the front row sat Sophia’s mother, wearing a beautiful navy silk dress, weeping happy tears as she watched the ceremony.
Beside her sat Sophia Vance.
She looked breathtaking. She wore a custom lace wedding dress designed in Milan, with a long, flowing train that swept across the green grass. A delicate diamond tiara rested in her styled dark hair, and her eyes sparkled with pure, radiant joy.
Beside her stood Julian Rossi.
He wore a bespoke black tuxedo, his dark hair neatly styled, his face filled with a warmth and happiness that no one in his family had seen in three generations.
Dr. Mercer stood nearby, smiling warmly, while Dante stood proudly as Julian’s best man, wearing an expensive suit that barely concealed his massive frame.
"By the power vested in me," the officiant announced, his voice carrying over the quiet breeze of the Hudson River, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Julian didn't hesitate.

He wrapped his arms gently around Sophia’s waist, pulling her close, and kissed her with a deep, passionate tender affection that made the entire audience burst into wild, joyous applause.
Sophia wrapped her arms around his neck, sinking into the kiss, knowing with absolute certainty that she was safe, loved, and cherished for the rest of her life.
