Chapter 9 - Reclaiming Her Name

The Phoenix Table opened its doors six months later, completely redesigned. The dark, opulent, intimidating velvet decor Victor loved was replaced with warm wood, open windows, bright greenery, and an open-concept kitchen where customers could see the culinary team working in harmony.
Evelyn restructured the business model completely. Every employee received a fair living wage, full health benefits, and profit-sharing options. Chef Mateo was officially made a co-partner in the kitchen operations.
On opening night, the restaurant was packed to capacity. Community leaders, former regulars, local workers, and everyday citizens lined up around the block to get a table.
