Chapter 8 - The Entrance of the King

The rear door of the armored limousine opened.

A tall, broad-shouldered man in his late late-forties stepped out into the October rain. He wore a tailored charcoal diplomatic suit decorated with the royal sash and medals of Valoria. His dark hair was silvered at the temples, his jaw set like stone, and his steel-blue eyes immediately fixed on the doors of the ballroom.

Two royal guards opened the heavy double doors of the country club.

King Alexander IV of Valoria stepped inside.

The room was deathly quiet. The heavy tread of his boots echoed off the marble floor as his royal guard fell into formation behind him.

Richard Whitmore stepped forward, trying to maintain his authority. "Excuse me, sir! This is a private event! You cannot simply—"

Alexander didn't even glance at Richard. He walked straight past him, ignoring the billionaire board chairman as if he were invisible.

His eyes were locked on Evelyn and Claire.

When he reached them, the king stopped. The fierce, stern expression on his face melted away, replaced by an overwhelming warmth and emotional raw intensity.

He looked at Evelyn first. "You kept them safe," he said softly, his voice deep and resonant.

"Always," Evelyn replied, tears shining in her eyes.

Then, King Alexander turned to Claire.
