Chapter 10 - A Legacy Rewritten

Three months later, the dark clouds over Blackwood Academy had completely cleared.

Richard Whitmore had been removed from the board following an audit that revealed severe financial misconduct, and Vanessa found herself ostracized by the very peers who had once cheered her bullying.

Claire did not leave Blackwood. Instead, she stayed to finish her senior year on her own terms—not as a scholarship charity case, but as the daughter of a king who chose to remain grounded, humble, and kind.

In the spring, the royal family hosted a state dinner at the newly reopened Valorian Embassy in Chicago.

The grand ballroom was filled with dignitaries, diplomats, and true friends. At the head table sat Evelyn, wearing her royal crown alongside King Alexander, who held his wife's hand beneath the table just as he had done decades ago.

Beside them sat Claire, laughing with her true friends from school.

During the dinner, Alexander stood up to raise a glass to his family. He looked down at Claire with unconditional pride.

"For seventeen years, I was a king without a kingdom," Alexander said, his voice ringing true across the hall. "But looking at my daughter today, I know that my greatest legacy was never a crown or a country. It was her."

Claire smiled, raising her glass to her father—no longer an empty chair, no longer a mystery, but her hero who had finally come home.
