Chapter 7 - The Final Ledger

Midnight struck as Eliana stormed into the executive suite of BioCore Tech in New Jersey, flashing her corporate compliance badge and invoking emergency humanitarian transport clauses she had memorized during her internship at Caldwell National Foods.

Using her deep understanding of supply chain algorithms—the very skills Nathan had inadvertently helped her nurture—she exposed an administrative loophole in the medical distribution protocol. She didn't beg; she legally outmaneuvered the regional director, threatening immediate federal injunctions if they withheld the life-saving medical hardware.

By 3:00 AM, a private courier helicopter touched down on the roof of New York Presbyterian Hospital, carrying the specialized ventricular assist device.

Eliana raced down the sterile hospital corridors, clutching the protective transport case against her chest as if it were fragile glass. She burst through the surgical wing doors just as Dr. Harrison and his team were preparing for a worst-case scenario.

"I brought the inventory," Eliana panted, setting the case on the stainless-steel table.

Dr. Harrison stared at her in utter disbelief, then looked at the box. A slow, astonished smile broke across his face. "Get the operating room ready! Move, move, move!" he yelled to the surgical staff.

As the doors swung shut, Eliana collapsed into a plastic chair outside, her body trembling with exhaustion, her hands stained with the dust of the desperate journey.

Twelve agonizing hours passed.

When the red light above the operating room finally flickered off, Dr. Harrison walked out, looking tired but smiling broadly.

"He's going to make it, Eliana," the doctor said softly. "The device is functioning perfectly, and his vital signs are stabilizing. He's resting."

Eliana let out a sob of pure relief, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor, burying her face in her hands as the heavy weight of fear finally lifted.
