Chapter 10 - A Legacy of Love

The sound of an acoustic violin played a sweet, romantic melody as Rosa walked down the white runner laid across the lush green grass.

Standing at the end of the aisle beneath a grand archway of blooming white roses was Adrian Hastings. He was dressed in a sharp, dark blue tuxedo, but he wasn't looking at the flowers, the decorations, or the dozens of cheering guests. His dark eyes were fixed entirely on Rosa, filled with a love so deep and unconditional that it made her chest ache with joy.

Beside him stood Marcus, serving as his best man, and on the other side stood Mia, holding a small basket of rose petals, beaming with pride as she fulfilled her very important duty as flower girl.

As Rosa reached the archway, Adrian stepped forward, taking both of her hands into his.

"You are the most breathtaking sight I have ever seen," Adrian whispered, his voice trembling with emotion as he looked at her.

"And you look pretty good yourself, Mr. Hastings," Rosa whispered back with a playful, affectionate smile.

The officiant stepped forward, his voice echoing warmly over the gathered crowd.

"We are gathered here today not merely to unite two lives, but to celebrate the triumph of love over adversity, truth over deceit, and family over isolation," the officiant began. "Adrian and Rosa’s journey to this moment was born out of courage, forged through hardship, and sealed with an unwavering commitment to protect what is truly precious."

When the time came for the vows, Adrian looked directly into Rosa’s eyes, holding her hands tightly.

"Rosa," Adrian said, his voice ringing clear and steady through the quiet garden. "Six months ago, I was a man living in a castle of stone, surrounding myself with walls to protect my heart from grief. I thought my purpose was just to build an empire. But then you brought light into my house. You showed me what true bravery looks like. You gave me back my sister’s memory, and you gave me a reason to love again. I promise to honor you, protect you, and cherish you and Mia for every single day of my life. My heart, my fortune, and my life are forever yours."

Tears slipped down Rosa’s cheeks—not tears of pain or fear, but tears of overwhelming, complete happiness.

"Adrian," Rosa spoke, her voice filled with a powerful, steady warmth. "Three years ago, I promised my best friend that I would protect her child at all costs. I thought I had to stand alone against the world to keep that promise. But you showed me that true strength isn't standing alone—it’s finding someone who will stand beside you in the middle of the storm. You fought for Mia, you cherished me, and you gave us a home where we don't have to hide anymore. I give you my heart, my devotion, and my love, now and forever."

"By the power vested in me," the officiant smiled brightly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Adrian, you may kiss your bride."

Adrian didn't hesitate. He pulled Rosa gently into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her deeply, longingly, while the entire crowd erupted into joyful applause and cheers.

Mia giggled loudly, throwing her entire basket of white rose petals up into the air, letting them shower down over Adrian and Rosa like a flurry of fragrant snow.

When Adrian set Rosa back on her feet, he laughed, pulling Mia up into his arm so that he was holding both of his girls close against his heart.

Later that evening, as the sun set over the horizon, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of gold, crimson, and violet, the guests danced beneath the twinkling lights of the garden.

Rosa stood near the edge of the lawn, a thin lace shawl wrapped around her shoulders, holding a glass of sparkling cider. Adrian stepped up behind her, wrapping his arms securely around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder as they watched Mia playing tag with several other children near the rose bushes.

"What are you thinking about?" Adrian whispered softly against her ear.

Rosa looked out at the magnificent estate, then down at the shiny gold wedding band on her finger, and finally at her daughter, whose crown of dark curls bounced happily in the warm evening breeze.

"I was thinking about that night in the ballroom," Rosa said gently, turning slightly in his arms to look up into his dark, loving eyes. "When that curl fell onto the marble floor, I thought our lives were completely over. I thought we had lost everything."

Adrian smiled, leaning down to press a soft kiss against her forehead. "It wasn't the end, Rosa. It was just the moment the truth finally cut through the darkness."

"And look where it brought us," Rosa murmured, leaning her head against his chest, listening to the steady, comforting beat of his heart.

"Home," Adrian said softly, tightening his arms around her as the stars began to twinkle in the night sky above them. "It brought us home."

And there, beneath the warm glow of a thousand lights, surrounded by love, security, and endless laughter, the maid’s child and the billionaire’s bride lived in perfect, unshakeable happiness, forever whole.
