Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Dawn

Two years after the day my life was changed forever.

I woke up at 6:00 AM.

The bedroom was filled with soft, warm, golden sunlight streaming through the sheer silk curtains. The air smelled of fresh lavender and coastal rain.

Beside me, Julian was sleeping peacefully, his arm draped comfortably over my waist, his steady breathing a soothing rhythm in the quiet room.

I sat up gently, leaning against the plush upholstered headboard. There was no terror. There was no freezing ice water. There was no cruel family standing over me with cameras and venomous smiles.

There was only peace, dignity, and absolute freedom.

I looked out the window at the morning sky, where the sun was rising over the horizon, painting the clouds in shades of soft pink, gold, and violet.

I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, stepping onto the soft, warm cashmere rug. I walked over to the full-length mirror hanging near the balcony doors.

The woman staring back at me was radiant. My skin was glowing, my eyes were bright and fearless, and my lips held a soft, genuine, unshakeable smile.

I had survived the cold. I had broken the chains of abuse. I had defeated every single person who had tried to shrink me, humiliate me, and control me.

Julian stirred behind me, sitting up in bed, rubbing his eyes softly before smiling at me.

"Good morning, beautiful," Julian murmured, his voice warm and deep with affection. "What are you thinking about?"

I turned to look at my future—at a man who loved me with respect, honored my boundaries, and walked beside me as a true equal.

"I was just thinking about the dawn," I replied softly, walking back to the bed and sliding under the soft duvet beside him.

"And what about it?" Julian asked, pulling me close to his chest, kissing my forehead gently.

"It’s warm," I smiled, burying my face against his neck as the bright morning sun filled our room with pure, brilliant light. "And it's completely mine."
