Chapter 10 - Forever in the Light

(FINAL CHAPTER — HAPPY ENDING)
Five years later.
The grand dining room of the Starks estate was filled with the delicious scent of roasted turkey, fresh pastries, and warm cider.
A giant crystal chandelier illuminated a massive oak dining table loaded with food. Scattered around the room were framed photographs documenting five wonderful years of growth, travel, laughter, and unconditional love.
There were photos of Lily and Rose winning their first state equestrian ribbons; photos of four-year-old Leo—a energetic little boy with his father’s dark hair and his mother’s sharp, intelligent eyes—riding on Rory’s shoulders; and photos of family vacations along the sunny coasts of Italy.
At the head of the table sat Rory Starks.
He wore a simple, elegant dark shirt, looking relaxed, healthy, and deeply content. Beside him sat Veronica, radiant and stunning at thirty-two, her hand resting comfortably in his beneath the table.
Eleven-year-old Lily and Rose sat on one side, discussing their middle school art projects, while little Leo sat in his high chair beside Marco, happily smashing a piece of sweet potato with his fork.
Marco, now serving as the legitimate head of Starks Global Security, sat across from them, smiling as he helped feed the little boy.
“Alright, quiet down everyone,” Rory commanded warmly, tapping his glass with a spoon.
The family fell silent, looking toward the head of the table.
Rory stood up, holding his glass of red wine high. He looked down at his daughters, who were glowing with health and happiness; at his young son, who knew only love and safety; and finally, at his gorgeous wife, who held his soul in her hands.
“Six years ago,” Rory began, his deep voice filled with profound emotion, “this house was a cold, dark fortress. I thought strength meant carrying pain alone in the dark. I thought protection meant building higher walls.”
He reached down, taking Veronica’s hand and lifting her to stand beside him.
“Then an ‘invisible maid’ walked into my home,” Rory smiled, looking into Veronica’s eyes. “She broke open a toy, exposed the lies lurking in the shadows, and showed me that true strength isn't about isolation—it’s about having something worth fighting for.”
He looked around the table at his entire family.
“Veronica saved my daughters. She saved my life. And she built this family into something no enemy, no storm, and no passage of time can ever destroy.”
Rory raised his glass higher. “To my wife, my Queen, and the light of our home.”
“To Mom!” Lily and Rose cheered loudly, raising their juice glasses.
“To Veronica!” Marco smiled, clinking his glass against Rory’s.
Veronica felt a warm tear of pure, unadulterated happiness trail down her cheek. She looked at the man who had claimed her before the world—the man who had given her a life beyond her wildest dreams.
She leaned up on her tiptoes, wrapping her arms around his neck, and kissed him deeply amidst the cheers and giggles of their children.
“I love you, Rory Starks,” she whispered against his lips as the room filled with warmth and laughter.
“I love you, Veronica Starks,” he replied, holding her close to his heart. “Forever and always.”

Outside, the stars shone bright over the grand estate—no longer a fortress of shadows, but a permanent sanctuary of love, family, and light.
