Chapter 7 - The Heartbreak

The revelation of Salvatore’s betrayal threw the Moretti family into chaos. But the worst part wasn't the threat of war—it was the trap Salvatore had set for Dawson.
To protect Sienna from the imminent fallout, Dawson did the only thing he knew how to do: he became the monster again.
The next morning, Sienna entered the penthouse to find Dawson standing by the bar, an empty bottle of whiskey beside him. His eyes were bloodshot and cold, the warmth from the gala completely extinguished.
"Put the papers down and leave, Sienna," he said, his voice flat and dead.
"Dawson, what's wrong? We need to talk about Salvatore—"
"There is no 'we'," he interrupted, turning to face her with a cruel sneer. "You're a waitress, Sienna. A charity case my father hired to keep me amused. Did you really think that little kiss in the alley meant anything? You were a distraction. And now, you're a liability."
Sienna felt as though he had struck her across the face. The pain was physical, sharp, and suffocating. "Dawson... don't do this."
"Get out," he growled, slamming his fist onto the bar, shattering a glass. "You're fired. Take your father's cleared debt and run back to your pathetic little life. I don't ever want to see your face again."

Tears pricked her eyes, but Sienna refused to let them fall in front of him. She lifted her chin, her pride the only thing she had left. "You're a coward, Dawson Moretti. You're not a monster. You're just a little boy who is terrified of being loved."
She spun on her heel and walked out, leaving him alone in his gilded cage.
