Chapter 5 - The Eviction

At six o'clock the following morning, the sun rose over the sprawling coastal estate in Naples, casting a warm golden light across the manicured lawns and private fountains. But inside the mansion, there was only chaos.
Blake had spent the entire night driving between his corporate headquarters and his bank’s regional offices, only to find every door locked and every phone line ringing directly to automated legal disclosures. By the time he, his mother, and his sister pulled up to the estate’s security gate in his sports car, the gate refused to open.
"What is going on with the code?" Blake shouted, hammering his fist against the steering wheel as the keypad beeped red. "Did she change the security codes too?"
Without warning, the heavy iron gates swung open automatically. Blake slammed his foot on the accelerator, racing up the long brick driveway toward the front entrance.
Parked in the circular driveway were two massive commercial moving trucks and three black sedans bearing the logo of a private legal firm. Half a dozen professional movers were already busy hauling luxury furniture, oil paintings, and racks of designer clothing out through the front doors.
Blake leapt out of his car, his tuxedo from the night before crumpled and stained with sweat. "Stop! Stop right now! What the hell are you doing with my belongings?"
A sharply dressed legal representative stepped forward, carrying a thick binder of documents. "Mr. Blake Winslow?"
"Yes! I am Blake Winslow! This is my house! Get these movers off my property immediately before I call the police!"
"Actually, Mr. Winslow," the attorney said calmly, handing him a legal notice, "this property is registered under the name of the Fairchild Family Revocable Trust, established thirty years ago. You have never been a legal owner or tenant of this estate. You were merely an uninvited occupant residing here at the discretion of the trustee."
Lenette stumbled out of the passenger side of the car, clutching her chest. "My clothes! My jewelry! Corinne, look! They’re carrying out my designer dresses!"
"Your personal items—defined strictly as clothing and personal vanity products purchased with your own documented income—have been packed into six cardboard boxes currently sitting by the gate," the attorney replied without a hint of emotion. "All art, furniture, vehicles, and luxury items purchased using funds derived from Fairchild Capital subsidiaries or credit lines have been seized under court-approved asset preservation orders."
"Where is Arden?" Blake roared, trying to push past the attorney toward the front door. "Arden! Get out here!"
Two massive security guards immediately blocked his path, stepping in front of the door with immovable presence.
"Ms. Fairchild is currently inside finalizing the transfer of ownership of Winslow Development's headquarter building," the attorney said. "She has issued a formal trespass warning. If you step foot past these front steps, you will be arrested instantly."
Corinne began sobbing uncontrollably on the driveway. "Blake, do something! All my bags, my recording equipment, my shoes... they’re putting them in cardboard boxes!"
"Shut up, Corinne!" Blake screamed, his eyes bloodshot, his hands shaking violently. He looked up at the master bedroom window on the second floor.
Standing behind the glass was Arden. She was wearing a simple, tailored cream suit, holding a hot cup of tea. She watched him with absolute calmness, showing neither anger nor satisfaction—only the quiet, unyielding authority of someone who had reclaimed her life.

Blake felt a cold panic grip his heart as his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out with trembling fingers. It was a text message from his chief financial officer:
Blake, federal auditors just arrived at the office with a subpoena. Fairchild Capital has filed criminal fraud charges regarding the Harbor Pointe land transfers. The bank has frozen all corporate accounts. It’s over.
