Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

A year after the night that almost took my life, the sun rose warmly over a lush green park filled with golden morning light. We were celebrating Leo’s first birthday. Colorful balloons swayed in the gentle breeze, and the air was filled with laughter, delicious food, and the warmth of genuine friends and family who truly loved us.
Clara stood beside me, setting down a small smash cake in front of Leo, whose wide, sparkling eyes mirrored the boundless joy of the day. As he plunged his tiny hands into the frosting, erupting into delighted giggles, a wave of profound gratitude washed over me.
I looked down at my hands—no longer trembling, no longer reaching out to a cruel man for help. I was whole, standing strong on my own two feet, surrounded by light and real love. The dark nursery floor, the cold hospital room, and the painful betrayal were now distant memories in the rearview mirror. Looking at my beautiful son, I smiled, knowing that we hadn't just survived—we had conquered, and our true life was just beginning.
