Chapter 9 - HEALING OLD WOUNDS

Six months later.
The city had changed. Sterling Fertility was shut down permanently, its corrupt directors imprisoned. The Moretti syndicate was completely dismantled, its assets seized or absorbed by the Voss empire.
In a quiet, sunlit courtroom in downtown city center, a family court judge signed the final decree.
"By order of this court," the judge announced with a warm smile, "the birth certificates of Julian, Leo, and Maya Voss are hereby amended to legally recognize Elena Voss as their mother, with full, unimpeachable custody rights."
Elena wept, but this time, they were tears of pure, unadulterated joy. Caden pulled her into his arms right there in front of the judge’s bench, holding her tight as the three toddlers—now robust, healthy, and vocal—began clapping their hands excitedly from the front row.
That evening, the Voss estate was illuminated not with tactical searchlights, but with thousands of warm, twinkling string lights. A massive celebration was held in the gardens, filled with laughter, music, and peace.
After the guests had departed and the children were tucked safely into their beds, Caden led Elena out to the rose garden overlooking the glowing city skyline.
The autumn air was crisp, but Elena was wrapped in a soft ivory coat. She leaned back against Caden’s chest as his arms encircled her waist.
"What are you thinking about?" Caden murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the side of her neck.
"I was thinking about the diner," Elena admitted softly, a gentle smile touching her lips. "About the day the glass slipped out of my fingers. I thought my life was over that night. I thought I had hit absolute rock bottom."
"It wasn't the end," Caden said, turning her gently around in his arms so he could look down into her warm hazel eyes. "It was just the moment you came back to us."
Caden reached into his coat pocket and withdrew a small, velvet box. He flipped it open to reveal a stunning, flawless yellow diamond ring that sparkled like sunlight in the garden illumination.
"Elena Voss," Caden said, his voice deep, gravelly, and filled with a profound emotion he no longer tried to hide. "You healed my children. You healed me. You brought light into a dark house that had forgotten what love felt like. Will you marry me, and let me spend the rest of my life protecting you?"
May you like
Elena looked at the man who had fought through hell to give her back her children, the man who loved her with a quiet, unshakeable devotion.
"Yes," Elena whispered, tears of happiness gleaming in her eyes. "Yes, Caden. A thousand times yes."
