Chapter 8 - CONFRONTATION AT STERLING CLINIC

While Victor Moretti was led away in chains, one final piece of the dark puzzle remained unpunished: Dr. Arthur Harrison, the man who had looked a grieving, twenty-three-year-old Elena in the eyes and lied to her face while she wept for her lost babies.
Ortega tracked Harrison to the abandoned Sterling Fertility Clinic, where the disgraced doctor was frantically packing incriminating paper files into industrial shredders before fleeing the country.
The heavy glass doors of the clinic lobby shattered inward as Caden and Elena stepped through the dust.
Dr. Harrison spun around, a box of files falling from his trembling hands, scattering paper across the cold marble floor. "Caden... Mr. Voss! Please! I was forced! Victor Moretti threatened my family!"
Elena stepped forward, her shoes crunching over the shattered glass. She looked at the room—the same reception desk where she had sat fourteen months ago, crushed by despair, signing forms she couldn't even read through her tears.
"You took my life from me," Elena said, her voice trembling with a mixture of righteous fury and deep, lingering pain. "I begged you to let me see them. Just one photo. One small blanket. And you told me it was a mercy to forget."
"Elena... please..." Harrison stammered, backing up against the shredder. "I can give you money! I have millions saved—"
"Keep your dirty money," Caden said coldly, stepping beside Elena and placing a solid, protective hand on the small of her back. "The police are five minutes away, Harrison. But before they take you, you are going to do one thing."
Caden pulled a crisp, legal document from his jacket and slapped it onto the desk alongside a black pen.
"You are going to sign a full, sworn confession detailing every baby you stole, every record you falsified, and every family you broke," Caden commanded. "Or I will turn you over to my men instead of the federal marshals."
May you like
Harrison’s face went ghastly white. He grabbed the pen with shaking hands and signed his name at the bottom of the confession without hesitating for a single second.
Elena watched him sign. As the ink dried, she felt a massive, invisible weight that had been crushing her chest for over a year finally lift away. The nightmare was over. The truth was written in black and white.
