Chapter 7 - The Offensive Strategy
The attack on his home was the final boundary line for Damian Valdez. He realized that as long as the Vanguard consortium believed they could strike at his family, the war would never end. He needed to take the fight to their true center of gravity—the maritime bank in Luxembourg that held the legacy assets and the legal mechanism designed to dissolve Leo's trust.
"We aren't running, and we aren't waiting," Damian announced during an emergency meeting in the war room the following morning. He had traded his casual clothes back for a sharp, dark suit—the uniform of a king preparing for battle. "Bishop, prepare the private transport. Nola, you’re coming with me to Europe. Clara will stay here with Silvano's full tactical regiment to guard Leo."
"Damian, the Luxembourg bank is an international fortress," Nola warned, her analytical mind reviewing the digital security protocols. "They don't operate like the Chicago syndicates. They are protected by sovereign banking laws and international private security firms."
"Every fortress has a key," Damian said, his voice dropping into that cold, absolute certainty. "And the key to this specific bank is held by a man named Hector Vance—Victoria’s older brother and the true architect of the Vanguard trust. He’s currently residing at his private estate in Geneva. We go to Switzerland, Nola. We secure the signature, or we dismantle their entire financial foundation piece by piece."

Before they left, Damian spent an hour alone with Leo in the orchard. He handed the boy a small, polished stone from the riverbed—a symbol of their permanent connection. "I’ll be back before the peonies turn fully green, Leo. Trust Clara. Trust the guards. Your uncle owns the road, and I will be back to walk it with you."
