Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Empire

One year later.
The summer sun shone warmly over the vast green gardens of the Moretti Private Estate.
The grand stone mansion was filled with the sound of music, laughter, and children running through the sprinklers near the marble fountain.
A grand celebration was underway—Lily’s fourth birthday party.
Unlike the chaotic party of the year before, this gathering was filled with genuine warmth, safety, and joy. Dozens of children from local schools, staff members' families, and trusted allies played on the manicured lawns.
Near the garden pavilion, Old Man Frank and Matteo sat in wrought-iron chairs, enjoying cigars, watching Leo and Lily chase a golden retriever puppy across the grass. Lily was laughing hysterically, her blonde curls bouncing in the sun, wearing a cute pink summer dress.
Standing on the grand marble terrace overlooking the gardens was Sophia.
She looked breathtaking in a white linen dress, her hair pinned up with fresh flowers, holding a glass of iced peach tea.
A pair of strong, warm arms gently wrapped around her waist from behind.
Alessandro pulled her back against his broad chest, resting his chin softly against her shoulder as they watched the children play below.
"What are you thinking about, my love?" Alessandro asked softly, kissing her cheek.
"I was thinking about that afternoon in the hall," Sophia admitted quietly, leaning her head back against his shoulder. "When Lily ran out of the staff room holding her broken stuffed rabbit. I thought my life was over that day, Alessandro. I thought we were going to be thrown out into the rain."
Alessandro turned her gently in his arms, framing her beautiful face with his large, warm hands.
"That day wasn't the end of your life, Sophia," Alessandro whispered, looking into her hazel eyes with a deep, infinite love. "It was the day God sent an angel to save my family. You gave me a reason to live, a reason to fight, and a home worth protecting."
"I love you, Alessandro," Sophia whispered softly, reaching up to wrap her arms around his neck.

"I love you, my Queen," Alessandro replied, leaning down to press his lips against hers in a long, sweet, lingering kiss.
Down on the lawn, four-year-old Lily stopped running, looked up at the terrace, and waved her small hand happily at her mother and father. Leo ran over, catching Lily’s hand, and both children cheered as they ran toward the giant birthday cake waiting beneath the white gazebo—a cake decorated with four bright candles, filled with nothing but sweet cream, love, and a future that no force on earth could ever break again.
