Chapter 6 - The Velvet Transformation

The next three days passed in a whirlwind of intense preparation, secret political maneuvers, and growing passion inside the West Wing.

Ivy moved permanently into Ronan’s master suite. Though they slept in the same grand bed, Ronan treated her with absolute respect, holding her plush, warm body close against his chest every night, letting her rest her healing shoulder against his heart while he worked on corporate ledgers and syndicate maps late into the night.

On Thursday morning, twenty hours before the High Council meeting, the doors of the West Wing swung open to admit Madame Genevieve—the city's most exclusive, formidable high-fashion designer, accompanied by four assistants carrying racks of velvet, silk, and jewels.

Madame Genevieve was a tall French woman with sharp eyes who had dressed queens, movie stars, and mafia wives for thirty years.

When Genevieve walked in, she looked at Ivy, who was sitting on the sofa in her wool sweater, looking somewhat nervous.

"Ah," Genevieve said, her sharp eyes scanning Ivy’s figure from head to toe. "So this is the famous Mademoiselle Ivy who has turned the Blackwood Syndicate upside down."

Ivy stood up awkwardly, smoothing her sweater. "Hello, Madame. I... I apologize if my measurements are difficult. I know I’m not the typical size for your dresses—"

Genevieve raised a hand, stopping Ivy mid-sentence. She walked around Ivy, touching the curve of her waist, the width of her shoulders, and her soft, glowing skin. A brilliant, genuine smile broke across the French designer's face.

"Mon dieu," Genevieve breathed with genuine delight. "Difficult? Mademoiselle, the women of high society are like wooden broomsticks covered in silk. You... you have the divine hourglass of a Renaissance goddess! You have real hips, a glorious bust, and skin like cream! It will be my absolute masterpiece to dress you!"

Ivy felt a sudden, massive weight lift off her chest as Genevieve and her team immediately went to work.

For five hours, Genevieve draped luxurious fabrics over Ivy’s body, tailoring a custom gown designed specifically to accentuate her full, gorgeous curves rather than hiding them.

By eight o'clock that evening, Ronan entered the room to check on the progress.

He stopped dead in his tracks at the entrance of the fitting room.

Standing on the raised pedestal in front of the full-length mirrors was Ivy.

She wore a custom midnight-blue velvet gown—the exact color of the night sky over the ocean. The dress featured a low, sweetheart neckline that framed her soft, voluptuous bustline with tasteful elegance. The fitted waist clung perfectly to her full hips before cascading down to the floor in a heavy, dramatic train. Over her bandaged shoulder, a delicate cape of dark blue silk mesh covered the wound while adding an regal, queen-like majesty to her silhouette.

Her dark hair was styled in intricate, soft curls pinned up with sapphire-and-diamond clips provided by the Blackwood vault.

Genevieve stepped back, folding her hands with pride. "Presenting... the future Queen of the Blackwood Syndicate."

Ronan walked slowly toward the pedestal. His eyes were wide, filled with an awe so profound he couldn't speak for several seconds. He reached up, taking Ivy’s gloved hand, and helped her step down from the platform.

"You take my breath away, Ivy," Ronan murmured, his deep voice trembling slightly as he looked at her. "You look... magnificent."

Ivy looked at herself in the mirror, barely recognizing the confident, breathtaking woman staring back at her. The scared, hiding maid was gone; in her place stood a woman who looked capable of ruling an empire.

"I feel like a queen," Ivy whispered, looking up into Ronan’s loving eyes.

"You aren't just going to feel like one tomorrow, my love," Ronan said, lifting her hand to press a fervent kiss to her palm. "Tomorrow, you take the throne."
