Chapter 6 - The Siege of Red Hook

At 11:00 PM, the night sky over New York erupted into chaos.

Adrian did not strike with subtlety. He struck with the overwhelming, merciless force of a war lord reclaiming his territory.

In Sheepshead Bay, three of Falcone’s illegal gambling parlors were raided simultaneously by federal agents acting on anonymous, highly detailed tips provided by Adrian’s legal network. Over twelve million dollars in illicit cash was seized in less than an hour.

At the Brooklyn waterfront, two luxury yachts owned by Falcone’s top lieutenants caught fire mysteriously, lighting up the night sky in towering pillars of orange flame.

And at a private warehouse near the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, Dominic led a tactical strike team that intercepted a shipment of smuggled illegal weapons worth eight million dollars, completely destroying Falcone’s primary revenue stream for the upcoming year.

By 2:00 AM, Sal Falcone was screaming into his phone in his Dyker Heights study.

"How is he doing this?!" Sal roared, throwing a crystal decanter against the wall, shattering it into a thousand pieces. "He's destroying six months of work in three hours!"

"Boss!" one of his soldiers burst into the room, sweating profusely. "It's Moretti! He’s systematically cutting off every lieutenant who signed off on the poison attempt! Jimmy 'The Rat' just got picked up by federal marshals! Paulie 'Three Fingers' vanished from his car in Queens!"

Sal sank into his chair, his hands shaking with rage and panic. He realized Adrian wasn't just fighting a turf war—he was hunting him down with surgical precision.

"Get the cars ready," Sal ordered, his eyes filled with desperate venom. "We're going to Long Island."

"Boss? The Moretti estate is a fortress!" the soldier protested. "He has thirty armed men on those grounds!"

"He has thirty men, but he only has one weakness!" Sal sneered, reaching into his desk drawer and pulling out a heavy snub-nosed revolver. "He cares about that housekeeper and her kid! We take twenty men, we hit the rear gate by the water, and we burn that mansion to the ground!"

Meanwhile, back at the Moretti estate, the storm clouds were gathering again.

Adrian stood in the surveillance room, watching the screens. He had been awake for nearly thirty hours, but his mind was crystal clear.

Hannah walked into the room, holding two mugs of hot coffee. She set one on the desk beside him, looking at the dozens of security monitors displaying the dark grounds.

"You should sleep, Mr. Moretti," Hannah said softly.

"I don't sleep much, Hannah," Adrian replied, taking the mug. "Especially not when the city is on fire."

Hannah looked down at her hands. "Dominic told me what you’re doing tonight. You’re destroying Falcone because he threatened Ellie, aren't you?"

Adrian turned to look at her. The dim blue light from the monitors reflected off his sharp jawline.

"When my wife and daughter died," Adrian said, his voice quiet and heavy with ancient pain, "I made a promise to myself that I would never let another child suffer because of my world. Your daughter gave me a second chance at life, Hannah. I will burn every street in New York before I let anyone lay a finger on her."

Hannah looked into his eyes, seeing not the terrifying mob boss the news warned people about, but a grieving father who had finally found something worth fighting for.

Suddenly, a loud, high-pitched alarm shattered the quiet room.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The central monitor flashed bright red.

"BREACH AT REAR WATERFRONT GATE," an automated voice echoed through the speakers. "THERMAL SENSORS DETECT MULTIPLE HOSTILES."

Adrian set his coffee mug down instantly, pulling his pistol from his shoulder holster.

"Dominic!" Adrian barked into his lapel radio. "They're coming through the beach approach! Lock down the main house! Put Hannah and Ellie in the panic room now!"
