Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

Six months after the fateful day Victor Hale tested fate on the grand staircase, the Hawthorne-Hale estate played host to a very different kind of event.

There were no board members, no corporate rivals, and no secret surveillance cameras.

It was an intimate, breathtaking garden wedding held beneath a canopy of blooming white roses and ancient maple trees as the first gentle snow flurries of early winter began to dance through the air.

Only a handful of close friends, trusted estate staff, and family attended. Arthur Brooks walked his glowing daughter down the garden aisle, his head held high with quiet pride.

Amelia wore a stunning, minimalist ivory lace gown that caught the afternoon sunlight, her hair styled in soft waves with a delicate silver vine woven through her dark curls.

Waiting for her at the floral altar stood Victor. He wore a classic navy tuxedo, looking at his bride with an expression of profound, unshakable devotion—the look of a man who knew he had been given a second chance at life and was determined never to squander a single second of it.

And right between them, acting as the most enthusiastic ring bearers in Pacific Northwest history, were two-year-old twins Evan and Nora. Dressed in miniature formal attire, they proudly carried a velvet pillow with two matching platinum bands, giggling uncontrollably as they dropped the pillow onto the grass and chased each other around the altar.

Everyone laughed softly, the sound mingling with the crisp winter breeze.

The officiant smiled warmly, looking out over the small gathering. "Do you, Victor, take Amelia to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love her, honor her, and stand by her through every storm?"

Victor never broke eye contact with Amelia. His voice rang out clear, steady, and filled with absolute truth.

"I do."

"And do you, Amelia, take Victor to be your lawfully wedded husband, to share your heart, your home, and your life with him forever?"

Amelia smiled, her dark eyes shining with happy tears. "I do."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. Victor, you may kiss your bride."

As Victor pulled Amelia into a deep, tender, passionate kiss, applause and cheers erupted from the assembled guests. Evan and Nora immediately joined in, clapping their tiny hands together and shouting happily:

"Yay! Mommy and Daddy!"

Victor and Amelia broke apart, laughing through their tears, looking down at the twins before wrapping their arms around both children in one massive, unbreakable family embrace.

The cold, intimidating fortress of stone and glass was gone. The paranoia and the tests were nothing more than distant memories of a man who had finally learned how to stop acting and start living.

They were home. Safe, sound, and surrounded by a love so fierce and honest that nothing in this world could ever break it apart again.
