Chapter 10 - The Barefoot Queen

The grand stone chapel built on the high hills of the Moretti estate overlooked the vast, blue waters of the Long Island Sound.

Spring sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows, casting vibrant mosaic patterns of ruby, emerald, and gold across the white carpet lining the center aisle.

Four hundred guests stood as the organ began playing a magnificent, triumphant wedding march.

At the altar stood Aleandro Moretti. He looked impossibly handsome in a bespoke black tuxedo, his hair neatly styled, his posture tall and commanding. But his eyes were soft, filled with an overwhelming, emotional warmth as he watched the heavy wooden chapel doors open.

First down the aisle walked Emma.

She took careful, deliberate steps, tossing white rose petals to the left and right with a wide, radiant smile, completely charming every guest in the chapel.

Behind her walked Sophia, looking like a vision of pure grace and timeless beauty, her white veil trailing softly behind her.

When Sophia reached the altar, Aleandro stepped forward, taking her hand into his.

The elderly priest raised his hands, blessing the couple as they exchanged sacred vows of love, loyalty, and lifelong devotion—vows forged not in corporate convenience, but in the fiery trials of survival, courage, and unconditional love.

"By the power vested in me," the priest announced with a warm smile, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Aleandro lifted Sophia’s veil, framing her face with his big hands, and pressed his lips against hers in a long, tender kiss that drawn thunderous applause from the entire congregation.

That evening, a grand reception was held in the estate’s main ballroom—the exact same ballroom where seven months earlier, cold hatred and cruel mockery had nearly destroyed their lives.

The chandeliers burned with warm, golden light. White roses wrapped around every column. The twelve-piece orchestra played a sweet, romantic waltz.

Aleandro and Sophia stood near the center of the dance floor, holding each other close, swaying to the music as guests toasted to their bright future.

In the middle of the dance, Emma ran over to the head table, reaching for her mother's dress.

"Mommy! Daddy!" Emma tugged on Aleandro’s trousers. "My shoes are tight!"

Aleandro smiled, dropping down to one knee right in the middle of the dance floor. He gently unbuckled Emma’s shiny black patent-leather shoes, sliding them off her feet, setting them neatly beside the orchestra platform.

He looked at his daughter, then at the guests watching with warm smiles.

"Go on, baby," Aleandro encouraged softly. "Show them how a queen dances."

Barefoot once again, three-year-old Emma twirled into the center of the grand ballroom.

She lifted her arms toward the golden chandeliers, her curls flying around her glowing face as she spun with wild, untamed joy.

She did not dance for money. She did not dance for applause.

She danced because she was safe. She danced because she was cherished. She danced because she was the beloved daughter of a family that had fought through the darkest shadows to find the light.

Aleandro wrapped his arm around Sophia’s waist, pulling his wife close against his side. Together, they stood under the warm chandeliers, watching their barefoot daughter dance, knowing that their love would last forever.
