Chapter 5 - The Fall of the Castle

The deck of The Leviathan was slick with rain and blood. Arthur had carved a path through the outer security ring, leaving a trail of broken men and empty shell casings behind him.

Inside the bridge, Charles Sterling was no longer sipping scotch. He was watching the security monitors in absolute horror. On the screens, he watched his highly paid, professional mercenaries get dismantled one by one by a single man in a dark coat. It didn't look like a fight; it looked like a harvest.

"Get this ship moving!" Charles screamed at the captain. "Unmoor the lines! Now!"

"Sir, we can't! The automated winches have been locked from the outside!" the captain yelled back, frantically pressing buttons on the dead console.

Echo had done her job well. From her basement thousands of miles away, she had completely hijacked the ship's digital architecture, trapping Charles in his own steel fortress.

The heavy steel door to the bridge suddenly hissed open.

Charles spun around, drawing a small, silver revolver from his vest pocket. His hands were shaking so violently he could barely hold it straight.

Arthur stepped into the room. His coat was soaked, dripping water onto the pristine linoleum floor. His face was completely calm, his expression almost serene, except for his eyes, which held the cold weight of a grave.

"Stay back!" Charles shouted, backing up against the glass window. "Do you know who I am? I am Charles Sterling! I own politicians! I own judges! You’re a nobody! A broke, pathetic old man who cuts grass for a living!"

Arthur didn't stop walking. He didn't even raise his weapon.

Charles fired. The bullet went wide, shattering a glass display cabinet behind Arthur.

Arthur closed the distance in a heartbeat. He caught Charles’s wrist, twisting it upward until the bone snapped with a sickening crack. The silver revolver clattered to the floor. Before Charles could scream, Arthur gripped him by the throat, lifting the wealthy, powerful man completely off his feet and slamming him against the glass overlooking the docks.

"You built an empire on blood and suffering, Charles," Arthur said, his voice a dangerous whisper that cut through the sound of the storm outside. "You allowed your son to abuse my daughter. You allowed your wife to torture her. And you thought your money would protect you from me."

"Please..." Charles choked out, his face turning purple as Arthur’s iron grip tightened around his windpipe. "I can... I can give you millions. Whatever you want. Just let me live."

"I don't want your money, Charles," Arthur said softly. "I want your empire."

Arthur threw Charles to the floor. At that moment, the doors to the bridge burst open again, but it wasn't mercenaries. It was Colonel Vance, backed by a company of federal agents and military police.

Vance looked at Charles, then at Arthur, who was standing over him like a vengeful deity.

"We have the containers, Arthur," Vance said, his voice respectful but firm. "My men found fifty trapped women in the hold. The paperwork Charles signed connects him directly to an international trafficking ring. The Sterling family is finished. Legally, financially, permanently."

Charles looked up, realizing his life was over. "You... you can't prove anything..."

"We don't need to," Vance said, gesturing to his men. "Take him away. Secure him in a maximum-security military brig. No lawyers, no phone calls."

Vance turned back to Arthur, who was staring out at the rain. "What about the wife and the son, Arthur? They are currently trying to flee the country on a private jet."

Arthur wiped the rain from his face, his eyes locking onto Vance. "They won't make it to the airport."
