Chapter 5 - The Unveiling

The tension in the grand foyer was suffocating.

Robert frowned, holding the diamond earrings in his hand. "Michael, what are you talking about? I just pulled these directly out of her coat pocket!"

"I know you did, Dad," Michael replied smoothly. "Because Olivia put them there twenty minutes ago."

Olivia let out a sharp, offended gasp. "Michael! Are you insane? How could you accuse me of such a terrible thing? I am your fiancée!"

"And you are also a liar," Michael stated without raising his voice.

He turned to the two suit-clad men behind him. "Set up the screen."

The technicians quickly plugged a high-definition monitor into the foyer wall outlet, connecting it to a secure wireless transmitter.

"What is the meaning of this?" Robert demanded, his temper flaring. "Michael, this is absurd!"

"Sit down, Dad. Everyone sit down," Michael commanded with an intensity that made even Robert freeze.

Michael tapped his phone screen.

The large monitor flickered to life. Instantly, crystal-clear high-definition video footage filled the screen, complete with crisp, noise-filtered audio.

The first video showed the kitchen three weeks ago.

The entire family watched in stunned silence as Olivia stood near the marble island holding a glass of red wine. They saw Sophie finish mopping the pristine floor. They saw Olivia deliberately tilt her wrist, splashing the dark wine across the white tiles.

And then, Olivia’s voice boomed from the monitor speakers with chilling clarity:

“Clean it again. And this time around, try not to leave any streaks.”

Linda gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as she stared at the screen in horror.

The video cut to a second clip: Olivia smearing industrial grease across the antique silver tray and screaming at Sophie.

Then a third clip: Olivia instructing Sophie to sort invitations by city, and then publicly humiliating her two hours later for not sorting them alphabetically.

And finally, the video recorded thirty minutes ago.

The screen showed Olivia walking into the master bedroom, taking the diamond earrings from her vanity, deliberately knocking a crystal vase onto the floor to create a mess, walking down to the service closet, and slipping the diamonds into Sophie’s coat pocket.

The foyer fell into a dead, terrifying silence.

Olivia stood frozen in the center of the room, every drop of blood drained from her face. Her lips trembled, but no words came out.

Linda looked from the screen to Olivia, her eyes filled with an overwhelming mixture of shock, sorrow, and disgust.

"You..." Linda whispered, her voice shaking with righteous fury. "You humiliated a young girl who works her fingers to the bone... for fun?"

Robert looked down at the diamond earrings in his hand, then at the monitor, his face turning dark crimson with humiliation and rage. He realized how completely he had been manipulated into doing Olivia’s dirty work.

"Olivia," Robert growled, his voice trembling with embarrassment. "Is this true?"

"It’s... it’s a setup!" Olivia shrieked, backing away toward the front door. "Michael manipulated the videos! He edited them! He’s trying to frame me because he doesn't want to marry me!"

Michael stepped forward, pulling a thick stack of financial documents from his briefcase and setting them on the foyer table.

"I don't need to frame you, Olivia," Michael said calmly. "And as for your father, Richard... federal agents froze his company accounts two hours ago. His Ponzi scheme was exposed. You didn't love me, Olivia. You needed my family’s money to save your father from prison."
