Chapter 2 – “The Secret Bianca Tried to Hide”

The Bellini mansion had a strange way of changing when danger arrived.

The walls did not shake.

The lights did not flicker.

Nobody screamed.

That was what made it terrifying.

Everything remained beautiful.

Everything remained quiet.

The marble floors still reflected the golden chandeliers.

The flowers in the entrance hall still looked freshly arranged.

The guards still stood at their posts.

But underneath that perfect appearance, something had shifted.

Something invisible.

Something dangerous.

I felt it the moment the housekeeper’s warning ended.

“Do not leave that room.”

Those words stayed in my mind.

Because people in ordinary homes said things like:

“Be careful.”

“Lock the door.”

“Call me if you need anything.”

But in the Bellini mansion, a warning meant something different.

It meant someone was watching.

Someone was waiting.

Someone had already crossed a line.

I looked at Donna Elena.

Her face had gone pale.

Not because she was afraid for herself.

I knew that now.

She had lived too long beside powerful men to fear easily.

She was afraid because she knew the person moving against her was close.

Very close.

“Donna Elena,” I whispered.

She reached for my hand.

Her fingers trembled slightly.

I had seen hundreds of people afraid during my years as a caretaker.

Fear showed itself differently in everyone.

Some people cried.

Some became angry.

Some pretended nothing was wrong.

Donna Elena did something else.

She became completely still.

That was how I knew this was serious.

Ten minutes later, the door opened.

I immediately stood between Donna Elena and whoever entered.

Then I realized who it was.

Nikico Bellini.

Two guards stood behind him.

His expression was colder than before.

Not angry.

Controlled.

The kind of control that frightened people more than shouting.

“Mother.”

Donna Elena immediately reached for him.

He crossed the room in seconds.

“What happened?”

His eyes moved to me.

Then to the security device on the table.

“The system was breached.”

“I know.”

His face darkened.

“Who told you?”

“The housekeeper.”

He nodded once.

Then looked at Donna Elena.

“What did she tell you?”

Donna Elena looked at me.

I understood.

She wanted me to speak.

“She believes Bianca is hiding something.”

The air changed.

Even the guards looked uncomfortable.

Nico’s expression did not move.

But his hand slowly tightened.

“Bianca?”

“Yes.”

“What exactly did she say?”

I told him everything.

The visit.

The threats.

The words.

The way Donna Elena reacted.

I expected anger.

I expected denial.

After all, Bianca was his fiancée.

The woman he planned to marry.

But instead, Nico became silent.

Too silent.

“You believe her.”

It was not a question.

I looked at him.

“I believe Donna Elena.”

Something changed in his eyes.

A small crack.

Because everyone around him probably feared him.

Everyone probably agreed with him.

Everyone probably told him what they thought he wanted to hear.

But I didn't.

“I need proof,” he said.

I nodded.

“Then find it.”

His eyes lifted.

“You’re not afraid of telling me what to do?”

I almost smiled.

“Your mother is.”

That answer surprised him.

“What?”

“She is afraid of what happens if nobody listens.”

For several seconds, he said nothing.

Then he looked at Donna Elena.

And I saw something I had never seen before.

Guilt.

That night, the entire mansion became a prison.

Not for us.

For everyone.

Nobody entered.

Nobody left.

Nico had ordered a complete security investigation.

Every camera.

Every employee.

Every system access point.

Nobody knew what he had found.

But everyone knew something was wrong.

Around midnight, I was walking back from the kitchen when I heard voices.

I stopped.

The hallway near Nico’s office was supposed to be empty.

But the door was slightly open.

I heard Bianca.

“You’re overreacting.”

Her voice was different.

Not sweet.

Not gentle.

Cold.

“You think I don’t know you?”

Nico replied.

His voice was low.

Dangerously low.

“I know exactly what you are.”

My breath caught.

I moved closer.

“You’re accusing me because of a caretaker?”

Bianca laughed.

“A woman who has been here three weeks?”

“No.”

Nico’s voice hardened.

“I’m questioning you because my mother fears you.”

Silence.

Then Bianca spoke.

“Your mother has never liked anyone.”

“That’s not true.”

“She hated your father’s second wife.”

“She had reasons.”

“She hated your business partners.”

“They betrayed her.”

“She hates me.”

A pause.

Then:

“Maybe because she knows what I know.”

My heart stopped.

Nico became quiet.

“What do you know?”

Bianca lowered her voice.

I could barely hear.

But I heard enough.

“Your father’s death wasn’t an accident.”

The hallway seemed to freeze.

I held my breath.

Nico said nothing.

Bianca continued.

“You think your mother has spent all these years protecting you.”

A small laugh.

“She hasn’t.”

I felt something cold move through me.

This was bigger than I imagined.

Much bigger.

“I don’t believe you.”

Nico’s voice was controlled.

But there was something underneath.

Pain.

“You will.”

Bianca replied.

“Because I have proof.”

I returned to Donna Elena’s room immediately.

She was awake.

Waiting.

The moment she saw my face, she knew.

“What happened?” I signed.

She stared at me.

I hesitated.

Then I wrote on her board:

Bianca mentioned your husband’s death.

Donna Elena froze.

Completely.

Her hand moved toward her chest.

I grabbed her hand.

“Donna Elena.”

She looked at me.

And for the first time since I met her...

I saw tears.

Not silent sadness.

Not old memories.

Real pain.

She grabbed the board.

Her handwriting was shaky.

SHE DOES NOT KNOW THE TRUTH.

I frowned.

“Then why would she say it?”

Donna Elena looked toward the door.

Then wrote:

BECAUSE SOMEONE TOLD HER.

My stomach tightened.

“Who?”

She looked at me.

And slowly wrote:

THE SAME PERSON WHO WANTS NICO TO DESTROY THIS FAMILY.

The next morning, Nico called me to his office.

I had never entered that room before.

It was exactly what I expected.

Dark wood.

Expensive furniture.

Bookshelves filled with old records.

But there was one thing I did not expect.

Pictures.

Hundreds of them.

His mother.

His younger self.

Family moments.

A little boy standing beside a woman who loved him.

Not a mafia family.

Just a family.

“You wanted to see me?”

Nico looked up.

“Yes.”

He gestured toward the chair.

I sat.

“I owe you an apology.”

That surprised me.

“Why?”

“Because I should have listened sooner.”

I said nothing.

He looked exhausted.

“I spent years believing I could protect my mother from everything.”

His jaw tightened.

“But I never considered protecting her from someone who wanted to join the family.”

“Bianca?”

He nodded.

“She has been different recently.”

“How?”

“She asks questions.”

“About what?”

“Everything.”

He stood and walked toward the window.

“Business.”

“Money.”

“Family history.”

Then he said:

“My father’s old accounts.”

I remembered Bianca’s words.

Your father’s death wasn't an accident.

“What happened to your father?”

Nico remained silent.

For a moment, I wondered if I had gone too far.

Then he answered.

“My father was murdered.”

I looked at him.

“Everyone said it was a rival.”

“Yes.”

“But you don’t believe that.”

“No.”

His voice became quieter.

“Because my mother was there.”

I froze.

“She saw something.”

“Why didn’t she tell you?”

He looked away.

“Because after that night, she lost her voice.”

My heart dropped.

Not just physically.

Emotionally.

Donna Elena’s silence suddenly had a different meaning.

“She became unable to speak because of trauma?”

He nodded.

“Doctors said it was psychological.”

I thought about all the years she had carried that pain.

All the years people assumed she was weak.

But she had been protecting a secret.

Protecting her son.

That afternoon, something happened that changed everything.

I received a message.

From an unknown number.

At first, I ignored it.

Then another arrived.

You want to know who Bianca really is?

I stared at the screen.

A third message came.

Ask her about the name Alessandro Vieri.

My blood went cold.

Because I had heard that name before.

Not from Bianca.

From Donna Elena.

Months ago, while practicing old signs with her, she had accidentally formed a name.

A name that made her cry.

Alessandro.

I didn't know who he was.

But now someone wanted me to know.

Before I could reply, the phone disappeared from my hand.

Nico.

He had taken it.

His face changed when he saw the message.

“Who sent this?”

“I don’t know.”

He looked at the name.

Alessandro Vieri.

And for the first time since I met him...

Nikico Bellini looked afraid.

Not angry.

Not powerful.

Afraid.

“Where did you see this name?”

I swallowed.

“Donna Elena.”

His eyes lifted.

“What?”

“She reacted to it before.”

The silence that followed felt endless.

Then Nico whispered:

“That’s impossible.”

“Why?”

Because he looked at the message again.

Because his hands were shaking.

Because whatever this name meant...

it was something he had spent his entire life trying not to remember.

“Because Alessandro Vieri died twenty years ago.”

I stared at him.

“And if he’s dead…”

Nico finished the sentence.

“Someone is using a dead man’s name.”

That evening, the engagement dinner preparations continued.

The most important night in the Bellini family.

The night Bianca expected Donna Elena’s blessing.

The night she expected to become untouchable.

But she didn't know something.

Nico knew.

And I knew.

And Donna Elena knew.

The woman trying to enter the Bellini family was hiding a secret.

But the greatest secret of all...

was that someone inside the family had already known.

Someone had been waiting.

Watching.

Planning.

And tomorrow night, when everyone gathered beneath the Bellini mansion’s golden lights...

the truth would finally begin to come out.

Because Bianca Bellini was about to discover something.

She had spent months trying to control a family.

May you like

But she had forgotten one thing.

A family built on secrets eventually destroys the person who tries to own them.
