Chapter 8 - The Renewal of the Trust

The fallout from the Aero-Vanguard crisis resulted in an unexpected benefit for Steel Logistics Global. The public short squeeze had driven the company's stock value to an all-time high, cementing their position as the most stable, trusted logistics provider in North America. The legacy trust that held the family assets was restructured into a permanent, sovereign foundation that could never be targeted by external corporate entities.
On a warm Friday afternoon in early July, Clara entered Ryker’s private study at the estate, a thick leather portfolio tucked under her arm. The room was cool, the french doors open to let in the gentle breeze from Lake Michigan.
"The final compliance audits from the federal review board just cleared," Clara said, dropping the portfolio onto his desk with a satisfying thud. "The legacy accounts are officially dissolved, Ryker. Every single dollar we own is completely transparent, legal, and protected under international foundation law. There are no more loopholes, no more hidden vulnerabilities."
Ryker stood up from his desk, walking over to the window to watch Owen practicing his penalty kicks on the lawn below, his loud, confident laughter echoing through the trees. "Thank you, Clara. You’ve performed a miracle with these books."
"It wasn't a miracle; it was just good accounting," Clara smiled, her blue eyes bright with a deep, professional satisfaction. "But more importantly, it means we can finally stop looking over our shoulders. The past has officially run out of ammunition."
Marco walked into the room, holding a small wooden box lined with velvet. He placed it on the table, opening it to reveal a collection of old, encrypted communication devices and keycards—the final remnants of the old syndicate infrastructure they had used to monitor their security.

"What do you want to do with these, boss?" Marco asked.
Ryker looked at the box for a brief moment, then looked back out at his son on the lawn. "Take them down to the salvage dock, Marco. Melt them down. We don't need encrypted networks anymore. Our world is entirely in the light."
