Chapter 5 - The Lachine Canal Raid

While Clara was executing the financial execution in Chicago, Ryker and Marco arrived at the Lachine Canal facility in Montreal under a heavy, freezing rain. The old brick factory was imposing, its windows covered in reinforced steel mesh.
"The perimeter security is light," Marco whispered, looking through a pair of thermal binoculars from the shadow of an adjacent warehouse. "Four guards on the ground floor. Julian is on the third level, according to his cellular footprint."
"Move in," Ryker commanded.
They didn't use an explosive entry; instead, Marco utilized a localized electromagnetic pulse device to temporarily blind the building's internal security grid for exactly ninety seconds. The heavy iron side door clicked open under Ryker's manual override tool.
They moved through the dark hallways like two ghosts from a forgotten era of violence. A guard turned the corner, his hand moving toward his holster, but Marco stepped into his blind spot, delivering a precise, non-lethal strike to the carotid artery that sent the man slumping silently against the brick wall.
On the third floor, Julian Vance sat in a luxurious, glass-walled office, frantically shouting into a satellite phone as he watched his financial assets evaporate on a multi-screen array. "What do you mean the margin accounts are frozen? Infuse more capital from the Cayman trust! Now!"
The glass door slid open, and Ryker stepped into the room, his wet trench coat dripping rainwater onto the expensive hardwood floor. Marco stood in the doorway, his weapon lowered but perfectly positioned to cover every exit.

Julian froze, dropping the phone onto his desk. His pale face flushed with a mixture of terror and deep-seated hatred. "Ryker. You think you can just walk into my city?"
"Your city is gone, Julian," Ryker said, his voice smooth, calm, and terrifyingly steady. "Your company is bankrupt, your brokers are currently being detained by federal agents in New York, and your assets have been seized to cover the short positions. You have exactly thirty seconds to give me the encryption keys to the tracking files you downloaded from my Midway hub."
