Chapter 4 - The Strategic Counterstrike

While Kenneth’s world began to crumble around him, I spent the next three days in the private VIP recovery suite at Walter Reed, surrounded by love, security, and absolute peace.
Mrs. Burke visited every afternoon, holding little Victoria and spoiling her with hand-knitted blankets. Harrison Vance, my attorney, sat in the armchair across from my bed, going over the comprehensive legal strategy we had prepared.
"Kenneth has already called my office seventeen times today, Colonel," Harrison said with a cold, professional smile. "He’s begging for a meeting. He claims he wants to 'reconcile for the sake of the baby'."
"He doesn't want to reconcile for Victoria," I said, looking down at my daughter as she slept peacefully in my arms. "He wants to reconcile because he realizes he’s about to be evicted, bankrupt, and socially ruined."
"Precisely," Harrison agreed. "He also attempted to contact the bank to check your personal account balances, but because of your military security clearance and the structure of the Fairview Trust, his access was completely blocked. He has no idea about the twenty million dollars yet."
"Keep it that way for now," I instructed firmly. "Let him think he’s only dealing with an Army Colonel who owns his house. I want him to experience the full weight of his own foolishness before he ever finds out how truly wealthy I am."
"And what about his logistics firm, Bradsdale Global?" Harrison asked, flipping through a file. "He took out a three-hundred-thousand-dollar commercial loan two years ago to keep it operational. Your grandfather quietly bought out that note through a subsidiary company to protect your financial interests."

I looked up at Harrison, a cold, sharp spark in my eyes. "Call in the note, Harrison. Immediate full payment required due to breach of moral conduct clauses in the lending contract."
"Consider it done, Colonel," Harrison replied, closing his briefcase with a satisfying click. "He won't even know what hit him."
