Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Clean Slate

One year after the wedding that never happened, I stood on the wide, beautiful front porch of a gorgeous modern farmhouse just outside Austin. It wasn't the white brick house I had sold on Ryan's wedding day; it was a home I had built for myself, custom-designed to my exact tastes, surrounded by ancient oak trees and a sweeping view of the Texas hills.

The doorbell rang. I walked inside and opened the door to find Megan, holding a bottle of expensive champagne and a large pink folder.

"Happy anniversary of the best day of our lives," Megan laughed, stepping inside and pulling me into a hug.
