Chapter 5 - Counter-Attack in the Cloud

The battle for Taylor Guard shifted from the courtrooms to the digital ether. At 2:00 AM on Wednesday, Christopher’s engineering team launched a massive, coordinated brute-force attack against Elena’s private servers, attempting to forcibly download the core source code before the federal filing could take place.
In the warehouse studio, the lights flickered as Elena’s laptops began to wail with security alerts.
"They’re hitting the main gateway," Elena said, her fingers flying across her mechanical keyboard like a concert pianist. "They’re using a botnet from Eastern Europe. Christopher must have paid a millions to activate this many nodes."
Miles scrambled up onto the chair beside her, his small face intense. "Mom, they're using the access route Christopher’s team built during the beta test. They think the door is still open."
"Is it?" Rachel asked, hovering behind them with mugs of coffee.
"It looks open," Elena muttered, a dangerous grin appearing on her face. "But Taylor Guard isn't just an encryption tool, Rachel. It’s an adaptive trap. Miles, activate the 'Baggage_Counter' protocol."
Miles punched a single macro key on his tablet.
Across town, in the high-tech command center of Blake Systems, twenty top-tier software engineers watched their screens simultaneously turn a deep, vibrant crimson. The download bars that had reached 98% suddenly reversed, flowing backward into their own local network.
"What’s happening?" Christopher demanded, standing behind his chief technology officer, his face distorted with rage.
"She... she honey-potted us, Mr. Blake," the CTO whispered, his hands trembling over the controls. "The source code we were downloading wasn't Taylor Guard. It was a polymorphic virus designed to trace our internal network routing. It’s bypassing our firewalls... it's downloading our private corporate emails."
"Shut it down!" Christopher screamed. "Pull the power cables!"
"We can't," the CTO gasped as his monitor locked up, displaying a large, stylized graphic of three children laughing. "The system's BIOS has been overwritten. They’ve locked us out of our own corporate server infrastructure."

Back in the warehouse, Elena watched the extraction counter hit 100%. Christopher's entire corporate communication history for the past seven years—including every email detailing his plans to defraud Catherine Morris, Maria Santos, and Jennifer Hale—was now sitting on a secure federal server under the protection of the FBI's cybercrime division.
"We have them," Elena said, leaning her head back against the chair, her eyes burning with tears of absolute relief. "We have everything."
