When the final note echoed into the high rafters of Lincoln Center, there was a beat of pure silence.

Emily lifted her daughter, holding her so tightly that their tears mixed together.
"You were amazing, baby," Emily sobbed into her curls. "You were absolute magic."
Julian Sterling stepped up beside them, wiping his own eyes with a silk handkerchief. "She didn't just win the showcase, Emily. She changed music history tonight."
The results were announced an hour later. Lily Parker was unanimously awarded the Grand Prize of the Cultural Showcase—a five-hundred-thousand-dollar artistic grant, a recording contract with a major classical label, and an international performance tour.
