Chapter 10 - The Castle on the Hill

One year later.
The morning sun filtered through the high, arched windows of a beautiful, sunlit brownstone overlooking Central Park.
Inside the spacious living room sat a magnificent, custom-made Steinway grand piano, its wood polished to a deep, warm glow. Next to the music stand sat a small, framed photograph of Emily and Lily on the subway, holding hands with the faded yellow ribbon.
Emily—now the Director of Operations at the Sterling Foundation—sat on a cozy sofa, sipping hot tea while reading a newspaper article highlighting Lily's upcoming performance at Carnegie Hall.
Lily, now six years old, sat at the piano bench dressed in a simple, beautiful blue dress. Sitting beside her was Julian, guiding her gently through a complex classical arrangement.
"Mommy, look!" Lily called out, pausing her playing and running over to the sofa.
She pulled out a small velvet box from her pocket and opened it. Inside was a bright, gleaming yellow ribbon made of pure silk.
"Julian bought it for me for Carnegie Hall," Lily beamed. "He said it matches my old one."

Emily wrapped her arms around her daughter, kissing her forehead. She looked out the window at the Manhattan skyline—the same city that had once felt so cold, terrifying, and indifferent.
They were no longer hiding in the shadows of someone else's castle. They had built their own, brick by brick, key by key, bound together by an unbreakable love that no amount of money could ever buy or break.
