Chapter 9 - A New Dawn

One year later.

The grand courtyard of the Rossi estate was transformed into a paradise of white roses, crystal chandeliers, and soft orchestral music.

Over two hundred guests—diplomats, business leaders, and reformed syndicate figures—filled the marble terrace, dressed in elegant evening attire.

I stood in front of a floor-to-ceiling mirror in the bride’s dressing room, staring at my reflection in awe.

I was wearing an exquisite silk lace wedding gown that flowed around my feet like sea foam. My hair was styled in soft curls, pinned back with silver pins, and around my neck hung a stunning diamond necklace—a gift from Lorenzo.

The dressing room door opened, and Sarah, a kind woman who had become my head housekeeper and close friend, walked in holding three-year-old Leo.

Leo was dressed in a tiny black tuxedo, complete with a red bow tie. He looked like a miniature version of his father, his cheeks rosy, his eyes full of bright, healthy laughter.

“Mummy!” Leo giggled, reaching his tiny arms out to me.

I laughed, leaning down to scoop him up into my arms, being careful not to wrinkle my dress. “Look at you, my handsome little prince!”

“Mr. Rossi is waiting at the altar, ma’am,” Sarah smiled warmly, tears in her eyes. “It’s time.”

I took a deep breath, holding Leo’s little hand as we walked out toward the grand garden pavilion.

As the heavy wooden doors opened, the wedding march began to play.

The entire crowd stood up, looking at me with admiration and respect. But I didn't see the crowd. My eyes were fixed entirely on the man standing at the end of the white aisle.

Lorenzo stood beside the altar, looking devastatingly handsome in his fitted black tuxedo. When his eyes locked onto mine, his hard features melted into a smile of pure, breathtaking love.

I walked down the aisle, holding Leo’s hand on one side and my bouquet in the other, feeling the warmth of the sun shining brightly above us.

When I reached the altar, Lorenzo took my hand, lifting it to his lips to press a tender kiss against my knuckles.

“You are breathtaking, my queen,” Lorenzo whispered softly.
