Chapter 10 - The Garden of Miracles

Three years later.

The afternoon sun warm on the rolling green hills of the Rossi estate.

The old dark whispers of violence, poison, and betrayal were now distant memories, replaced by the joyful sounds of children’s laughter echoing through the manicured gardens.

I sat on a woven blanket beneath the shade of a massive oak tree, wearing a comfortable sundress, cradling a newborn baby girl in my arms.

Her name was Lily—named in honor of the angel I had lost years ago. She had bright blue eyes and a soft tuft of dark hair, sleeping peacefully against my chest.

A short distance away on the grass, Lorenzo was playing soccer with four-year-old Leo.

Lorenzo had stripped off his suit jacket, his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows as he intentionally let Leo score a goal into a small netting. Leo cheered wildly, jumping into his father’s arms, and Lorenzo lifted the boy high onto his shoulders, both of them laughing heartily.

Lorenzo carried Leo over to where I sat under the tree, sitting down beside us on the blanket.

“Look, Daddy!” Leo pointed proudly at his sleeping baby sister. “Lily is sleeping like I used to!”

“She’s sleeping because she knows her mother is taking care of her,” Lorenzo smiled softly, reaching out to gently ruffle Leo’s dark hair.

Lorenzo leaned over, pressing a sweet kiss against my lips, then rested his head gently against my shoulder, looking down at our daughter.

I looked at my husband, my brave little boy, and the beautiful baby girl in my arms.

My journey had begun in the deepest darkness—shattered by violence, consumed by grief, and trapped in a world of fear. But love had pulled me out of the shadows, turning a dark mafia mansion into a sanctuary of healing and hope.

I took a deep, clean breath of the sweet summer air, resting my head against Lorenzo’s cheek.

We were safe. We were whole. And our story had finally found its forever happy ending.
