Chapter 10 - The True Harvest

A year later, the New York penthouse was no longer their primary residence. Damian had purchased a sprawling, historic estate on the coast of Maine, surrounded by acres of private pine forests and a quiet, rocky beach where the only sound was the gentle, rhythmic lap of the Atlantic ocean.

The mansion on the coast was designed entirely with Sofia in mind—warm, natural lighting, soft acoustic panels hidden within the beautiful wooden walls, and a massive, indoor sensory playhouse filled with texture maps and swings.

It was a beautiful evening in August 2026. The sun was setting over the ocean, painting the sky in brilliant shades of pink, gold, and deep violet.

A small, intimate gathering was being held on the wide wooden deck overlooking the water. Liam was there, looking sharp and confident in a tailored suit, currently talking with Teresa about his upcoming graduation from Hunter College. Beside them stood several of Damian's closest, most loyal business associates—men who had transitioned entirely into legitimate maritime commerce under Damian's new corporate direction.

Nora stood near the railing, her hand resting on her stomach, where a tiny, unmistakable bump was beginning to show beneath her elegant ivory dress.

Damian stepped up behind her, wrapping his strong arms around her waist, his large palms resting over her belly with a protective, awe-struck reverence. "Are you cold, my love?"

"Never when you're here," Nora smiled, leaning back against his chest.

Down on the sandy beach below the deck, Sofia was sitting in the soft sand, wearing her yellow noise-canceling headphones. She was building a massive castle out of wet sand, her green velvet rabbit sitting perfectly on the highest tower like a guardian king.

Suddenly, Sofia stopped digging. She looked up at the beautiful sunset, then turned her face toward the deck where her parents stood.

She took off her headphones, letting them drop to the sand. She didn't flinch at the sound of the wind or the call of the gulls. She took a deep breath of the salt air, looked straight at Nora, and let out a beautiful, ringing laugh.

"Nora!" Sofia called out, her voice clear and strong over the sound of the waves. "Sing the yellow song! The sky is yellow today!"

Nora’s eyes flooded with happy tears. She looked at Damian, who was looking down at his daughter with a face completely filled with a peace he had never known in all his years of wealth and power.

Nora took a deep breath, her voice rising sweet, clear, and steady into the cool evening air, singing the ancient lullaby of her family. As the notes drifted down to the beach, Sofia began to hum along, her small fingers tapping a perfect, peaceful rhythm into the sand.

The fire on Madison Avenue had long since turned to ash, and the shadows of the old docks had faded into history. The mafia boss had found his sanctuary, the autistic girl had found her voice, and Nora Bellamy had built an empire of love on the strongest foundation of all—a family that knew exactly how to make the world quiet.
