Chapter 8 - Reclaiming the Crown

Three months later.

The morning sun flooded through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the top-floor executive suite at Vance Global Logistics, situated at the edge of Lower Manhattan. The harbor below was alive with massive container ships, cargo barges, and tugboats navigating the deep blue waters.

Lyra stood at the window, wearing a perfectly tailored dark navy suit. Her dark hair was neatly styled, and her hands were steady as she held a porcelain cup of black coffee.

The heavy mahogany doors opened, and Dante Serrano walked in. He wore his signature dark coat, though his demeanor was relaxed, the tension that had defined his life for years noticeably absent.

"The federal court just finalized the restoration decree," Dante said, setting a stack of legal documents on her grand desk. "Every asset, every dock, and every vessel previously held under Marcus’s shell companies has been officially returned to you. You are now the sole owner and CEO of Vance Global."

Lyra turned around, looking at the desk that had once belonged to her father. "And Marcus?"

"Sentenced to life without parole at ADX Florence," Dante replied. "The Russian syndicate has completely withdrawn from the Eastern seaboard. The docks are clean."

Lyra walked toward her desk, looking at the silver nameplate that had just been installed: LYRA VANCE - CHAIRWOMAN.

"Eight years ago, I thought my life ended in that ocean," she said quietly. "I thought the dirt and the noise of the streets were all I would ever deserve."

Dante stepped closer, stopping on the other side of the desk. "The dirt didn't define you, Lyra. It just hid you until you were ready to take back what was yours."
