Chapter 10 - Light Beyond the Dark

A year later.

The quiet sunset turned the sky over the East Hamptons into a canvas of brilliant gold, rose, and violet. The gentle sound of waves lapping against the sandy shore filled the evening air.

Lyra sat on the wide wooden deck of the oceanfront compound, wrapped in a comfortable cashmere sweater. She was no longer the ghost who dragged a ruined carpet of hair through the cold streets of Manhattan. Her skin was healthy, her eyes were bright, and her spirit was whole.

Dante stepped out onto the deck, carrying two glasses of wine. He sat beside her, handing her a glass, and looked out at the horizon.

"The late-quarter earnings report came in," Dante said with a faint smile. "Vance Global is officially the safest and most profitable shipping network on the East Coast."

"I know," Lyra smiled, leaning her head gently against his shoulder. "I read the report two hours ago."

"You never stop working, do you?"

"I lived in total stillness for eight years, Dante," Lyra said softly, turning her face toward his. "Working, living, building... it reminds me that I'm alive."

Dante reached up, his hand gently cupping her cheek, his thumb brushing over the faint line where her scar met her jaw. "You saved my life in that alley, Lyra. But watching you take back your world... that saved mine."

Lyra placed her hand over his, her fingers entwining with his. The darkness of the underground, the betrayal of her blood, and the years of survival were all behind her now.

As the stars began to appear in the clear night sky above the ocean, the heiress who had been lost to the dark finally knew she was home, standing in the light she had fought so fiercely to reclaim.
