Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

The police sirens were already wailing in the distance, a sound that brought the first wave of relief in months. Marcus was gone, having vanished into the underground tunnels when the power cut, but his empire—the digital surveillance, the blackmail, the lies—had been wiped from existence when Damian pulled the main breaker.
Three days later, in a quiet house miles from the city, the sun shone through the windows. Oliver and his brother—named Leo—were playing in the backyard. The resemblance was striking, but the temperaments were different; Oliver was the calm, thoughtful anchor, and Leo was the inquisitive, vibrant fire.
Damian sat on the porch, his arm bandaged, watching them. Eliza stepped out, setting two cups of coffee on the small table. She sat beside him, leaning her head on his shoulder.
"The records were cleared," she said quietly. "Arthur testified. The truth is out, but for the first time, it doesn't hurt. It just... is."
Damian looked at her, his eyes clear and devoid of the shadows that had haunted him since they met. "They’re ours now. Both of them. No tests, no certificates, no secrets."
Eliza took his hand, her fingers interlocked with his. The chaos of the past was gone, replaced by the simple, profound peace of a family that had survived the impossible.
"What do we do now?" she asked.

Damian smiled, a genuine, warm expression that reached his eyes. "We start over. But this time, we do it in the light."
As the boys ran toward the porch, laughing, the weight of the past finally fell away. They were home. They were whole. And for the first time, there was nothing left to hide.
