Chapter 4 - The Heart of the Beast

The drive to Marcus’s compound was a blur of neon lights and adrenaline. Eliza sat in the back with Oliver, shielding his eyes from the world outside. She looked at the key in her hand. If the real records were at the train station, then the "evidence" Marcus was using was his only tether to power.
"Damian," she said, leaning forward. "If we find this other child, we don't just win a fight. We dismantle him."
"That’s exactly why he won’t let us leave," Damian replied, watching the rearview mirror. Three cars were tailing them, their headlights piercing the rain.
The chase ended at the docks, a labyrinth of shipping containers and rusted cranes. They ditched the SUV and ran into the shadows of the yard. Arthur, despite his wounds, kept pace, his face a grim mask of determination. "This is where he keeps the server farm," Arthur signaled toward a massive, windowless warehouse.
"Ollie, listen to me," Damian said, stopping behind a stack of containers. "Whatever happens next, you stay behind the crates. Do you trust me?"

The word hit Damian like a physical blow. He turned, his face softening for a fleeting second, before he kicked open the warehouse door.
