Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Coup

The top floor of the Aranda Corporate Headquarters looked out over the sprawling expanse of Mexico City. The massive boardroom was filled with twenty of the country's most powerful investors and executives, all speaking in hushed, nervous tones.
At the head of the long mahogany table sat Doña Esther, dressed in a flawless navy blue Chanel suit, her silver hair perfectly coiffed. Beside her sat Marcela, looking triumphant, tapping her manicured nails against a leather folder.
"Thank you all for coming on such short notice," Doña Esther said, her voice commanding total silence as she stood up. "As you know, my son Alejandro has done wonderful things for this company. But the pressure of managing an empire while dealing with a... let's say, highly unstable marriage, has fractured his mental health. We have evidence that he is currently acting under a severe paranoid delusion, holding his wife against her will, and jeopardizing our upcoming multi-billion dollar public offering."
An older board member, an old friend of Alejandro’s father, frowned. "Esther, these are severe accusations. Alejandro has grown our profit margins by forty percent since taking over."
"A machine can run well while the engineer is losing his mind, Fernando," Doña Esther replied smoothly. "We are asking for a vote to temporarily suspend his executive powers and place the control of the voting shares back into my hands until a psychological evaluation can be completed."
"The bylaws require a sixty percent majority," the corporate secretary announced. "We will now take the roll."
"There’s no need for a vote," a deep, resonant voice boomed through the boardroom speakers.
The heavy glass doors slid open, and Alejandro walked in. He wasn't alone. Walking beside him, dressed in an elegant, flowing cream-colored maternity dress that beautifully accentuated her pregnancy, was Valeria. Her wrists were covered in delicate, silk scarves to hide the bandages, but her posture was regal, her head held high. Behind them came Thomas Vance, a legendary international corporate prosecutor, and four federal agents from the financial crimes division.
The entire boardroom fell completely silent. Marcela stood up so fast her chair tipped backward.
"Alejandro... Valeria," Doña Esther stammered, her flawless aristocratic mask slipping for a fraction of a second before she forced it back into place. "How dare you interrupt this private administrative session?"
"This isn't a private session anymore, Mother," Alejandro said, walking to the opposite end of the table. He pulled out a chair for Valeria, who sat down with complete calmness, looking directly into Doña Esther’s venomous eyes without flinching. "This is a criminal disclosure."
Alejandro nodded to Thomas Vance, who opened his briefcase and began distributing thick, bound documents to every board member.
"What is the meaning of this?" Fernando asked, opening the folder. His eyes widened as he saw the structural reports, the bank receipts from Aura Aesthetics, and the photographic evidence of the sub-standard housing projects.
"For fifteen years," Alejandro announced, his voice echoing with absolute authority, "Doña Esther and Marcela Aranda have been skimming funds from our social housing developments. They have put thousands of families at risk of structural collapse, paying off government inspectors and judges to hide the truth. They used the company's name as a shield for their personal greed."
The boardroom erupted into chaos. Executives were shouting, looking at Doña Esther with horror and fury.
"This is a lie! A fabrication from a vengeful girl!" Marcela screamed, pointing at Valeria. "She’s trying to destroy us!"
"The financial records are verified by the Federal Tax Administration," Thomas Vance spoke up, his voice cutting through the noise like a scythe. "Furthermore, we have the signed confession of Dr. Mendoza, who was arrested last night at the international airport while trying to flee to Spain."
Doña Esther froze, her face turning a sickly, translucent white.

"Dr. Mendoza has confessed to the systematic poisoning and physical abuse of Valeria Aranda under the direct orders and payment of Esther and Marcela Aranda," Vance continued, turning to the federal agents. "The charge is not just financial fraud. It is attempted murder of an unborn heir, aggravated assault, and human trafficking."
The lead federal agent stepped toward Doña Esther, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt. "Esther Aranda, Marcela Aranda, you are under arrest by order of the Federal Judiciary. Please step away from the table."
