Chapter 10 - The True Home

Three months later.

The wedding was not a massive, thousand-guest media circus in a public cathedral.

It was held on a sunlit Saturday afternoon in the private, rolling green gardens of the Hartwell estate in Highland Park. Only forty people attended—the closest friends, family, and loved ones who had supported Evelyn through her journey.

Evelyn walked down the flower-lined aisle in a simple, breathtaking silk-crepe gown. She held no doubts, carried no secrets, and needed no prenuptial clauses to protect her from the man standing at the altar.

Julian stood beneath a simple arch of white jasmine, his eyes shining with tears of joy as he watched his bride approach.

When Thomas Hartwell placed Evelyn’s hand into Julian’s, her father leaned in and whispered softly to Julian: "Take care of my girl."

"With my life, sir," Julian replied firmly.

The vows were quiet, deep, and sincere—promises made between two mature adults who understood the true meaning of honor, trust, and partnership.

When the minister declared them husband and wife, Julian gently took Evelyn's face in his hands and kissed her softly, as the small gathering of loved ones cheered warmly under the afternoon sun.

That evening, after the intimate dinner had ended and the last guests had departed, Evelyn and Julian walked up the grand staircase together.

They reached the doors of the master suite—the sanctuary they had redesigned together.

Julian opened the double oak doors and stepped inside, holding the door open for her with a warm smile.

Evelyn stepped through the threshold.

The room was filled with the soft, warm glow of a crackling fireplace and the sweet scent of fresh jasmine. The French doors were open to the garden balcony, letting in a gentle, warm evening breeze.

Evelyn walked over to the balcony, looking out at the peaceful grounds of her home, feeling the quiet, profound stillness of absolute safety.

Julian stepped up behind her, wrapping his arms gently around her waist, resting his chin softly on her shoulder.

"Home?" Julian asked softly into her hair.

May you like

Evelyn leaned back into his strong, warm embrace, wrapping her hands over his.

"Yes," Evelyn whispered, looking up at the bright, clear stars shining above her estate. "Finally home."
