Chapter 7 - The Reckoning Between Father and Son

The silence in the conference room was absolute. Logan’s attorney slowly closed his file folder, knowing there was no legal standing left to argue. You cannot sue a father for refusing to give you an inheritance while he is still alive.

Logan buried his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking as he began to sob silently.

"I lost everything," Logan wept. "I lost everything because I was too stupid to see what I had."

"You lost everything because you lacked integrity, Logan," I said gently, leaning across the table. "You allowed your wife to treat your father like a servant, and you went along with it because you were afraid of conflict. You sacrificed your honor for short-term comfort."

"Dad, please..." Logan looked up, tears streaming down his cheeks. "I don't care about the money! I swear to God I don't care about the $800,000! I just want my father back. I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry."

I looked at my son. For the first time in six years, I saw real clarity in his eyes. The illusion had been shattered, the superficial pride stripped away. He was finally seeing the truth of his actions.

"I forgive you, Logan," I said quietly. "As your father, I forgive you. But forgiveness does not mean I will allow you to continue ruining your life—or mine. The legal actions remain in place. You must face the consequences of the debts you built."
