Chapter 7 - Betrayal at the Dock

The next morning, as my legal team prepared the evidence package for the federal prosecutors, my phone rang.
It was Evelyn’s primary care doctor from the hospital.
"Mr. Oseni! There’s been an emergency!" the doctor panicked. "Two men posing as state health inspectors just seized Mrs. Miller's medical records and forced her transport unit out of the mountain house! They’re taking her to the private shipping docks at the Port of Savannah!"
My blood ran cold. Arthur knew he was cornered, and he was using Evelyn as his final bargaining chip to secure his escape from the country.
"Henry, no!" Grace cried as I grabbed my coat and car keys. "It's a trap! He wants you there!"
"He wants the ledger and the cassette tape, Grace," I said, looking her in the eye. "Your father gave his life to save mine. I will not let Arthur take your mother too."

"I'm coming with you," Grace declared, her eyes blazing with a fierce determination I had never seen before. "My family has run from this man for twenty years. I won't hide anymore."
We drove south toward Savannah at breakneck speeds, coordinating with a trusted federal prosecutor who was dispatching a SWAT team to intercept us at the docks.
